Trump exaggerating and claiming he has signed more bills than any other President. This one can be added to the rest of his faulty claims, such as the crowd size on inaurguration day. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/17/us/politics/trump-laws-bills.html
Institutions have their liabilities. The formal protection and promotion of the institution has a way of taking precedence over the benevolent causes that the institutionis is supposedly promoting, whether it's a school, church, or political party. A news article about a school that effectively fired a teacher for saying something critical about the dairy industry on facebook. He made the remark on his own time and on his own computer. Sounds similar to bully pulpit tactics that Trump and others use. http://www.inquisitr.com/1676559/vegan-teacher-fired-for-facebook-post-criticizing-local-dairy/ Teachers at that school may actually be telling the students to be creative and speak their mind. Just don't say something on your own time publicly that is critical of the dairy industry or you might be fired by the school system because the school is funded in part by tax money collected from the dairy industry. The next incident might be the expulsion of a student for stating an opinion about the dairy industry.
And that's why we have teachers' unions and tenure. Tenure guarantees due process and academic freedom, a strong union fights for the right of teachers to have due process wherein a just cause must be made for a teacher's firing. There's nothing new about teachers being dismissed for bucking the local norms and biases.
Trump throws Jeff Sessions under the bus, claims fired FBI directer James Comey was black mailing him, and accuses independent consul Robert Mueller of conflicts of interest and warns him not to cross a red line; among other strange statements in a New York Times interview yesterday. Let me repeat that, he grants an interview to fake news New York Times....... Trump doesn't understand that Sessions didn't know that he'd have to recluse himself when he was appointed, or that he owes allegiance to the Constitution, not Donald Trump. Mueller has widespread bipartisan support. When Comey showed Trump Christopher Steele's famous "pee pee" dossier, so that he would be aware of it's existence, Trump claims he was blackmailing him! Apparently Trump has something to hide and if the special investigation finds out what it is he is threatening to do "something". And I'm not getting into his claim that French President Macron "Loves holding my hand."
This is one of the fundamental problems of putting someone like Trump into the White House. He has a decades-long track record in his private businesses of demanding that people give him complete loyalty. It shows in the way he is behaving as President. The public relations stunt he pulled with all his cabinet members present and bowing down to him and expressing their loyalty to him is a prime example. He's perplexed and frustrated by the general atmosphere in DC and with those who aren't bowing down to him. His remedy is to name-call and fire such people and to invoke self-pity ploys that claim that people are being unfair to him.
The WP is reporting that Trump is looking into the legality of him granting pardons to his aides, his family, and himself! What's that tell ya? Meanwhile Trump's lawyers are investigating special counsel Mueller for conflicts of interest. Trump wants to get rid of him...but how? Dig up some dirt...maybe the Russians can help? Meanwhile, meanwhile, Trump's long time personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, is being sidelined after threatening a stranger with emails containing words such as “watch your back, bitch,” and “I’m on you.”
Spicer gone. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/21/us/politics/sean-spicer-resigns-as-white-house-press-secretary.html?mcubz=1 At this 6-month juncture as President, Trump might want to try something really bold, such as holding a formal press conference in the press briefing room of the White House for the first time in his administration.
To add to Meagain's post about the NYT interview, Trump also shared some illuminating thoughts on health insurance : Ladies and gents, the President of the United States So where are these $12 plans and where can I sign up please
Trump now concerned that investigators will be able to see his tax returns. For someone like Trump who decides to give family members formal positions in the White House, these are some of the liabilities that accompany it. Trump wants to know if he has power to pardon himself, family, aides Wire Services https://www.dallasnews.com/news/donald-trump-1/2017/07/20/trump-wants-know-power-pardon-family-aides excerpt: "Trump has been fuming about the probe in recent weeks as he has been informed about the legal questions that he and his family could face. His primary frustration centers on why allegations that his campaign coordinated with Russia should spread into scrutinizing many years of Trump dealmaking. He has told aides he was especially disturbed after learning Mueller would be able to access several years of his tax returns. Breaking a tradition that began with President Jimmy Carter, Trump has repeatedly refused to make his tax returns public after first claiming he could not do so because he was under audit or after promising to release them after an IRS audit was completed."
The only good thing I can see do far in a Trump presidency is that we are testing over 200 years of our laws in regards to what the president can and can not do. Also the separation of governmental powers. We have never had such a complete anti constitutional, unethical, and unabashed tyrant in office. (If tyrant is the right word, I mean he seems to have no morals or sense of propriety at all.) In addition we have a Republican party that is terrified of him and also seems to lack any morals, in the main. Only they can stop Trump.
LOL... won't say what I'm thinking 'cause don't need any more warning points/bans, but seriously dude, pull your head out...
why is this absolute idiot still in office?? he is nothing but a disgrace and embarrassment to the American people...
^^^^ now, now, don't lower yourself to the mindless level of others around here, you're better than that.
I think they may actually follow through this time and file charges against the Trump camp for colluding with Russia. It's looking bad for Trump Jr. and the whole meeting with the Russian lawyer thing.
Every investigation has come up with nothing. In fact the head of a mainstream news network (forgot which one right now) that the whole thing is a big nothing burger. What makes you think this investigation is any different?
