I'm in Orlando tonight and for the past hour, it sounded scary outside. I'm glad that the storm is weaker, I wish we had stayed home but it's hard to know the right thing to do when you're thinking a cat 3 or 4 is coming. Never again will I leave. I don't care what those meteorologists say. I'm stuck in Orlando until 6pm tomorrow because of a curfew. Sigh.

I'm in Orlando too. The wind is a bit crazy considering the storm is so far away still, so that is a little unnerving but we'll see once it gets here. We've lost power a couple times and heard the transformers blow but it came back on really quick. We're in the Dr. Phillips area.

    Can we drive over?

The power has been out, we are just past the downtown area. I will never ever leave again. Ever. My neighbor texted me and her power is on. I don't care what categories these next two hurricanes are,I'm never leaving again. This storm is dangerous but where I live north of Tampa, I didn't need to leave.

How did the meteorologists not know that this would be closer to a cat 1? I want a job where I can be that off track and still make a ton of money. That's why people left ...that's why I left. I wouldn't have left over a cat 1 which is dangerous but not worth leaving. My husband is so chill about it all but I'm like I want to be home. :(

Awww...this must be your first hurricane? It's really hard for them to predict what is going to happen. There was an article about it on the BBC and the super computers used to try to track the storms and do the calculations. It's not an exact science but it's better than nothing I guess.

I'd just try to enjoy it. Driving back home is going to suck more than hanging out with your friends drinking! And the actual storm is still a couple hours away so just hang tight!

An inconvenience, sure, but better safe than sorry.

I’m sure it very inconvenient for you to simply pack up and leave, but you should also be grateful that Irma hadn’t maintained its Cat 5 status
or it would have destroyed everything along its path including your house

One was fine but it seems a bit ridicilous they've named 2 hurricanes after Irm.

I Can Understand That......The Name "Irm" Has Always Been Associated With A "Load Of Hot Air"...[IMG]

It's raining but my neighbor is outside working on cars, as usual.

I love this old guy. He's a great barometer of when everything is okay and when it isn't. lol
