Maybe these other non-German countries agreed to do these things so that they wouldn't get railed through, and maintain thier existence. Regardless, it's German history, they had the biggest issue with the Jews and made it well known. They own it.

All will probably disagree, but I'll say this: African Americans justify celebrating Thanksgiving just like any other national holiday on the calendar. We (my ancestors) were brought here as slaves and fell right in line with these traditions over time. Who do you think helped prepare all the meals on the plantations during holidays like Thanksgiving? While everyone else is going to rise up and debate why we shouldn't celebrate Thanksgiving, we are going to continue to enjoy it because we are off work and eating good food with friends and family. Life goes on.

I dont think anyone should have to justify celebrating a day that centers around eating delicious food. everyone enjoys a good feast

In essence i feel the same counts for watching tv in your underpants on an average workday. Now, if one would do that every average workday i can understand feelings of justification (same with if people would eat too often like its thanksgiving :p)..

My point was to the OP, and then to Hotwater quoting the OP's posted article.

Modern Day America's Thanksgiving Day is not about celebrating the overtaking of the lives of it's Native People.

It's a day of pause for reflection and gratitude in one's own life. It's a day to celebrate whatever abundance you have.

It's a day where I don't have to hide my obsession with food. Nothing more.

Aerianne, I didn't mean for my post to come across as if I'm abrasive. If it did I greatly apologize.

The truth about the entire hypocrisy of Thanksgiving was summed up in three paragraphs buried deep below the political commentary from Rush Limbaugh (why does politics always get thrown into any conversation lately?).

You make it that way, does not change the origin. Would you eat a sucker if it was buried deep in trash?

Are the Native Americans that were killed by the Pilgrims part of the 144,00; or are their Pagan souls burning in Hell?

You can't argue with people that already think they're right, I should know, I'm one of them. But you can clearly tell that this Eric fella isn't going to budge on his convictions. He's already demonstratred that he hasn't got much on the subject, but he'll cling to any relative information he thinks he's seen on the history channel. ;)

In fact, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the slaves had their own meager Thanksgivings in those terrible old days of the south.

I don't think it's very American to question how African Americans can justify something. Or to say that they are not European therefore this or that. That isn't nice at all.

Are the Native Americans part of the 144,000 going to Heaven?

What do you mean there's no Hell? Everyone who reads the Bible believes in Hell.
