Thanksgiving is just another day for me. I suppose I am like every cliche white guy who "learned it at college" but it's not a day to be proud of. It makes me so angry to see the children's books written on the topic. OK, they are kids they don't need to know every bloody detail yet but most of these books portray the day as a happy time. Like everyone gets along and always does and for some reason the natives are wearing nothing not even pants because they are "savages" yeah right try that in winter. Sure maybe that day it was peaceful but the children of the natives and white men who ate that day went to war. The heads of natives were hung in the village. They were not Christian so it was OK to kill them. It was not happy and that is the relationship between he two people that is most of our American history.

The native's eventually understood these white white men will not live in peace. They understood that their parents made the wrong choice in helping these people survive. And without the help of those who understood the land and had supplies the white man would have all died that winter. So they had to defend themselves. This is almost always why a tribe went to war. They are not the crazy people with tomahawks scalping you unless you make them.

Government schools aren't really for learning the truth about history.

We do have the internet, though.

Sometimes, you can find a grain of truth on it.

People don’t care about the truth. Obviously, they still just do the things that they were born into, the constructs of society rule.

I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.

One of our beloved annual family events involves building an effigy of a man who tried to murder hundreds of people in order to install a catholic theocracy in England, but was instead captured, tortured and brutally murdered. Then we go house to house with the effigy to get people to donate money, then we burn it and blow shit up.

History is fucked up and holidays are weird.

If they bring people together then I guess that's all to the good, and you can do good things on a day commemorating something dreadful without celebrating that dreadful thing or honouring those that did it.

And Columbus day lol. OMG DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE CONTRAVERSEY! It's a shameful day! Shame shame shame!

Like any country really. Motherfucken tribes were on the lands first them some other motherfuckers come and kill and that's it. I don't know why anybody is surprised by it.

I don't see any do gooders actually doing anything about it though except complaints on social media. Suppose as long as a few "friends" on the fazzbook can see you're making a political statement yerr gonna get a good night sleep.

I hate those people on Facebook. They just bring up dumb news articles from the most unreliable sources, I don't even think they read them but the headline is something and they share it.

Like the other day, I read an article about some concrete swastika they found underneath a sports field somewhere around here and they gonna dig it up and destroy it. A piece of concrete. Now we have to do that in Germany, there's no second thought on the matter, but then some all the Yankees are like see this is how you do it, referring to confederate statues. That's the best they've got. Too fucken lazy to do anything themselves but shit if I share this article which may or may not be fake then I'm doing something in the world. And I swear the cock suckers do nothing all day but read and share read and share. And that's the best they've got for making a political statement.

I think we should do away with Columbus day just because that man was dumb. Horrible sense of direction.

I don't use the term Indian for the same reason. Dumb ol' Columbus thought he was in India..why are we celebrating this moron
