Considering giving up porn for Lent

It's more of a psychological issue for me, though also a moral and ethical one.

 

Ok each to their own I have to admit I don't do it that often. I like the real thing too much.

While I wouldn't consider myself a Catholic, I don't think practicing some self-discipline in the worst tradition that emerged from Catholicism. Go for it.

Lent is a sacrifice. We give up something in the six weeks leading up to Easter--we sacrifice something--to show our appreciation for the sacrifice Jesus made of dying for our sins.

Traditionally, yes, Catholics would give up meat during lenten Fridays. Places with a strong Catholic concentration will have fish specials on Fridays because, as we all know, sea creatures are not vegetables; they are also, somehow, not meat. When I was a little girl I'd give up watching my favorite cartoon or some other mundanity that was really just me going through the motions to please my mother and grandmother. Because that is what Catholicism is really all about: If you don't do this remarkably archaic tradition, you are a bad person and you should feel terrible about yourself.

Porn is fine if it's fine for you. I've done plenty but it's time to move on for me. I have no moral judgement on others here. And yes, For me "Head clamp" is an apt metaphor.
