Sometimes I see in the paper a guy my age who's retiring or whatever. He's the president of some bank and a member of blah, blah, blah and respectible whatever and I look at his picture and he's OLD and wearing a suit and tie (and no doubt hard leather shoes.) And I think, my gosh, I should act my age and stop walking around town in cut-offs and bare feet. And then I think..."pffft." I can't imagine a life of getting up and putting on a suit and shoes and dealing with corporate BS. That being said, I have a good, responsible job and deal with many high level types. But I can mostly get away with casual wear, including bare feet around the office. So, I'll keep on keepin' on.
70 Here And Been Full Time Barefoot For 11yrs 7months......And Still Loving It......Don't Own Any Shoes So I Couldn't Be Shod If I Wanted To......Keep Up The Good Work mmicmann....... Cheers Glen. P-S......Nice Pic.......
You probably have a better smile than the president of the bank and suffer a lot less stress. If that garden is your work you have plenty to be proud of. Who knows what the bank president wears at home in his garden. Obviously with his position he has to look the part in public, If I met you in the street. I would I would not give your appearance a second thought. Bare feet wearing a business suite and tie may bring a smile to my face though.
Just turned 64 myself. I don't walk barefoot much except indoors. But hey, more power to you. Do your own thing and do it all your life!
Seems like we're all older here than I imagined. I'm 63 this year but am wondering how the hell that happened. Sadly I narrowly missed the hippy era age-wise but it struck a real chord with me and things have gone downhill since in terms of aspiration in my opinion. I too hold down a good job and manage to be barefoot nearly all the time. It's become one of my little quirks and colleagues express surprise on the rare occasion I'm wearing shoes. I think as you age you become more aware of the need to be true to yourself.
You should play a Nintendo 64 with your bare feet. That would both be a sight to see and would further cement both your age and love of metatarsal public exposure.
Great to hear from so many oldsters. The garden is outside Ft. Vancouver in Vancouver, Washington. Nice gritty walkways and all hardwood floors. Here's a link: https://www.nps.gov/fova/index.htm The cat in my profile picture was my cat several years ago (he's since passed away) resting in the shade of some hostas.
I took the virtual tour of the Bastion. Didn't see you there. Do they ever fire the cannon or are they too old and dangerous?
