Ok. Somebody please tell me their interpretation of the end of this movie. Did they get together or not????? I shall not sleep until I know the answer! Gaaah!!!!!
hmm i havents seen it, but ive seen "before sunrise" and "waking life" , in waking life they are together and living in texas as they have a conversation in bed, so i assume , they eventually ended up living together .
nope nope nope they don't! Before Sunset is the sequel... it's made ten years after Before Sunrise.... anyways, I won't ruin the whole story for you, but the ending of this one is even more frustrating then the first movie!
lol, no i think u misunderstood what i meant, yes they meet in vienna in before sunrise, they make plans to meet again, shoot forward and they meet in paris in before sunset, in between these 2 films, linklater made "waking life" in which they are living together, and having a conversation in bed, now seeing as there is no timeframe in waking life, ie it can be set after "before sunset", its safe to assume they probably did end up together.
well i think u're just stretchin things a bit Besides, i'm not sure that they were even supposed to be the same characters in Waking Life... I don't recall Julie Delpy having a french accent in that role....?? Feel free to correct me though!
from an ethan hawke interview , refering to waking life ... "That cameo was actually a sort of proto-sequel: the same two characters, in bed together, discussing for a few minutes a conversation they had in "Before Sunrise." theres nothing to suggest that whatever happens in waking life doesnt happen after "before sunset", then again theres not much to suggest it does guess its all in the interpretation, many people who liked before sunrise ( including me) always thought of waking life as prooof they got together, this was of course before anyone had heard of plans for an official sequal to be made. so i guess you wont be getting much sleep for a while .lol
i loved before sunset. it was so beautiful. i cried. i loved that they could connect again just as strongly after so many years living separate lives.
I've heard that this is a great movie, so it's on my list of movies I need to see. But is it a chick flick? I'll probably end up seeing it anyway, I just want to know what I'm getting myself into.
it's an indie film with some great dialogue. not overly brainy, but it's not boring and mindless. it's pretty intense. if a lovestory is a 'chick flick' then that's what you'd be getting yourself into. i dont think that lovestories are necessarily just for women.
They made it clear in 'Before Sunset' that they had never seen eachother since 'Before Sunrise'. They had made an agreement in 'Before Sunrise' to meet in Vienna at a future date, but they had failed to keep that agreement. 'Before Sunset' was the first time they had seen eachother in 10yrs. This 10yr separation is what gave the film so much of its intensity. I felt this sequel to be every bit as good as the original. Maybe I liked it even a little more than the original.
I loved Before Sunrise so much, and not too long ago me and my fiance went to rent movies and I wanted to get it for him to see because I talk about it all the time. Well, I was stoned, and I didn't even know they made a sequal (before sunset) and I saw it and said "here it is!" and grabbed that one. We got home and I was confused, haha. It was really good though, I loved it almost as much as the first one! But it was funny. He still needs to see the first one though, haha. Oh! Waking Life is amazing, too. Three really excellent movies all in one thread.
All three movies were great!!! (Before Sunrise, Waking Life and Before Sunset) Richard Linklater is absolutely brilliant. In before sunset they actually refer to both both movies, Ethan says something about waking up as the old lady in the passed life. Ah I just love Richard.
yes, me too, i love linklater. and yes, they so get together at the end of before sunset....that beautific smile on ethan embry's face, the 'i know' - they HAVE to stay together this time
