This. He certainly isnt entitled to the position just because Trump appointed him. He's made clear he's a right wing idealogue, he's made clear he doesnt have the calmest temperment, he has lied under oath, if appointed he'll be appointed under the shadow of a doubt that he can rule with complete impartiality in matters concerning women because of this.

At this point Trump would be better off withdrawing the nomination and appointing someone less controversial

But Trump's an asshole who made fun of Dr. Ford at a rally recently, so doing something rational is too much to ask of him at this point

Yeah he was an asshole at that rally, I agree completely.

But this isn't what they are voting on. They are voting on whether Kavenaugh is. One is not the same as the other.

Kavennaugh had what appears to be stellar record of adjudicating. Endorsed by about all you could be endorsed by.
We the public don't vote on him. However the Dems want to now have public protest on everything they don't agree with. Which is....anything Trump does.

Yeah Kavenaugh is a Conservative judge. That is what pisses you off. He will be one for the rest of his life as a SCOTUS judge. That pisses you off. Well take it up with the constitution.

Let's just say for a minute he's done nothing more than drink too much when he was in high school and college. And there's no credible evidence (not my opinion the former prosecutor who did the questioning) so far to say otherwise. Let's also assume he is a man of principle and is refusing to back down to what many construe to be a very dirty political hit job. My hat is off to him for having the backbone to stand up for what is right.

Trump plays both sides for da votes!

One minute, he says he thought she’s compelling, the next he is making fun of Ford. Ugh.

Just like most politicians. Dick Durbin and Diane Fienstein both voted not to impeach Bill Clinton who had far more allegations leveled against him than Kavanaugh has had.

Kavanaugh already demonstrated he's an asshole by his rabidly partisan ranting in his testimony A partisan judge is an unfit judge. Case closed.

So it must have been a mistake to confirm Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Sandra Sotomayor?

Or maybe he was simply defending himself against a partisan attack?

If you expect him to embrace Clinton or Obama or (insert liberal name here), you need to call your doctor and get your prescription changed. This is and always was about the fact that the SCOTUS will have a majority Conservative panel of judges. So you assume they will always be partisan. You might want to fact check. Neil Gorsuch has ruled against Trump already. Aligning as a Conservative doesn't mean they will not rule outside of a law because they have loyalties to who appointed them.

Because men will always rule the world. Yea, some will pat us women on the head and put us on boards (mandated) to fill quotas, but men still control it all. And I don’t see it changing.

This is why Trump nominated him in the first place... That and assumed protection from Mueller.

As of 6 hours ago NBC reports 40 people linked to Kavanaugh haven't been contacted by the FBI.
This includes one of Kavanaugh's roommates who has attempted to contact the FBI.
Reports are the FBI is not allowed to interview dozens of witnesses and even the information from those that have been interviewed may not be permitted to be considered by the FBI.

    Sad.

Neil Gorsuch didn't have a meltdown and rail against a left wing conspiracy including the Clintons out for revenge for having lost the 2016 elections. That's nuthouse stuff. Of course, there will be a conservative majority on SCOTUS. Let's hope whoever is added will also have a sense of impartiality and the need to prioritize the rule of law over partisan loyalties.

As a matter of fact, they were both confirmed because they had support from Republicans as well as Democrats. Clinton consulted Republican Sen. Orin Hatch, the very same Senator who is so pro- Kavanaugh and Hatch suggested Ginsburg. She was confirmed by a Senate vote of 96-to-3. Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell voted for her nomination. Sotomayor ran into more flack but was confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 68–31, nine Republicians voting for confirmation. Are they partisan? Progressive, yes, but neither demonstrated the level of openly partisan animus Judge Kavanaugh has. In fact, no Supreme Court Justice has in history. Bork came close, but he didn't make it through confirmation and he wrote Slouching Toward Gomorrah after he resigned his judgeship on the D.C. Circuit. The ladies mentioned are no more liberal than Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice Roberts, Samuel Alito, and Gorsuch are conservative.
