So you're saying anyone entering legally, or anyone who presents themselves for asylum should be accorded humane treatment including water, food, and toilet paper. If that is part of your position, I'll agree with that. Now, if anyone enters illegally, including Visa overstay (tourist and businessmen), your position is that they should be denied humane treatment. Is that correct? Are you including women and children? Even though they find work and pay taxes in the U.S. and, and How do we know the difference between well intended nationals vs the rest? How do we know we're not deporting the next Einstein? I'm not suggesting we don't have an immigration problem but I do think that all people deserve humane treatment and I believe that we can mitigate the problems we have.
One of Trump's supporters here in Northern Indiana just yelled at two Mexicans in a Walmart. He demanded that they stop speaking Spanish and start speaking English. He went home and put up a banner over his house saying "if you live here you need to speak English!" The Trump KKK is alive and well and hating Spanish speaking people everyday. Trump's followers seem to forget what the First Amendment said, or maybe they don't have the First Amendment in the KKK platform.
I wonder if the bump stock issues affects his votes. I mean for the gun owner the right has been the go to. If they feel he is not an ally where do they go? If this ban exists in 2 years its not likely to be changed easily. No matter what the next con says on the campaign. I don't know he insults the military often and that would be a big deal in the past to the same people who say you stand damn it I don't care if you are angry. In the end I suppose they will just say what they say now "well the other guy is upset, so I'm kinda happy".
The gun rights posture has been weakened. This I feel did not occur because of the bump stock ban. I know lots of hunters who saw that device as a stupid Rambo Wannabe BS thing. The high dollar and high capability guns are the long range accurate big game rifles with Wild Cat calibers. Every serious hunter knows that. The connection between the NRA and the Russia matter will piss off enough patriotic gun owners. The mystery now is where will they go, when they can't go to the Democrats? They know what Trump's sons did with the elephant parts photo. They know about that idiot from Idaho who killed an entire family of baboons. They know the Bundy stand off did nothing good for their image. They know only the wealthiest Americans own guns. The majority of Americans are poor working people who can not afford the expensive habit of hunting. A gun might cost $650 but going on a Wyoming Elk Hunt will run into the thousands. Eric and Don JR might have Trump funds to go on that vacation? We don't!
Apples are not Oranges no matter how much you paint the apple orange and scream its an orange. Once again you to great lengths to make all problems the same. Bad things and good things are the same. Context shifted. Facts left out. CNN version of reality. The food, bread and toilet paper discussion got started by the assertion that Trumps donated salary could provide water, food and toilet paper to the immigrants since that Trump bastard doesn't. To which I responded, they already get food, bread and water and I'd rather provide these basics to homeless vets in America first. I was asked to provide proof the immigrants were being provided food, water and toilet paper. I did so. The conversation never went back to the fact that, we now have somehow been forced to provide food, water and toilet paper to people that are not even Americans, yet we have not done the same for our own homeless who have actually already provided a service to our country and are citizens already. I then bring up the fact that we never had to provide food, water and toilet paper to your families immigrant roots, nor mine. Same constitution in place then, that there was now. That never seemed to gain traction in the argument (what a shock). Instead that turned into the white man the invader diversion tactic which is a different part of our history. Yet we discussed the term invasion and its current history. And the reason they appear to be attempting to invade us now. And what our responsibilities are to the invaders. At no time did I say I wanted to treat them all the same or better than our own American veterans. If I can't afford to give my homeless Americans veterans basic things like food water and toilet paper, I sure as hell don't wish to be told I have to pay taxes to provide it for Non Americans. Sorry but I agree with our president that we should put America First in our countries decisions. Particularly since we are going broke handing out handouts., But for the sake of argument let's say the American homeless problem is solved and I have resources left. (Never happen but I have to feed your left logic for the moment). We will take your provided choices of classification of immigrants. Lets start with the tax paying ones that have an expired Visa already here. These once again are not a one size fits all. If it is an easily explained and minor infraction of they simply didn't get to the office on time and they are recently expired? No problem, levy a late fee and fix that problem, and return them to their jobs. There are easily explainable reasons that some of these folks may not have been able to get there and are a week or so overdue. I have accidentally let my drivers license expire. I learned it was when I got the ticket for it at a safety checkpoint stop. Same basic premise. It was my responsibility that I failed at doing. Minor and not for the purpose of driving illegally because I couldn't do so legally. Now lets move on to the next expired Visa holder. Expired for lets say for years. Knew it was expired. But still here paying taxes, causing ZERO problems, and by and large still a good productive part of society. Now we charge him/her for court cost to review his/her case under attorney coverage, and if found to be worth keeping here, pay all those cost PLUS a bigger fine. If they are found to be problematic, a deportation ticket home for them. Their family can have a one time offer to join them home at U.S. expense that expires at the time of boarding of the plane as the offender. Past that if they want to go home to join them its at their expense. Unfortunately any children born here may face being orphaned because I can't get around the rights they now have as a naturally born citizen here. But we can sure make sure the parents have enough incentive to be responsible enough to not put their kids in that spot. Next we have the expired VISA holder that pays no taxes, appears to have no visible means of income. Immediate imprisonment and deportation. Provide him/her with the same level of support that any American prisoner is treated to. We can spend days upon days of the various nuances of illegal occupants here but my point will essentially be, if they have fucked up their welcome, there will be swift, and meaningful punishment. And I don't wish the experience to be pleasant for them. Now let's move on to the current news cycle immigrants. I would provide legal asylum seeking seekers, resources in the interim while the request was being processed. Resources equal to the level provided to incarcerated prisoners in this country with one exception. I'd allow them to be housed with their families. Then if they were approved for legal entry, help find them a job as quickly as possible and get them OUT of the support system. Then take out the cost of this support effort out of their paychecks as an added tax assigned to them. Similar to say the SSI deduction until its paid off. If they are unskilled we provide skills training in exchange for community service to pay for for their social support during that time. There is a TON of things they can do as community services. Then we make sure they go to work. For the illegal immigrants, tents would suffice. Porta Johns would suffice. Ready to eat military rations would suffice. All of these are already accepted military housing in warzones so we shouldn't be in violation of any rights as an illegal immigrant. But the food sucks and the toilet paper is cheap but functional. If its good enough for our military it is already better than an illegal deserves but I'll compromise there. They won't be subjected to it long because they are headed back soon. President Trump. Instead of building a wall take that 6.5B and force the Dems to pass a law that allows that 6.5 in resources to process them more quickly and get them the hell out of our support programs that the left want it to take years to do now. Since now we apparently can agree that we have a problem with illegal immigrants, both sides can call it a win. I'm not at all happy that we still haven't decided that we should care for our own homeless first, but at hand is the 6.5 being held up for immigration so I will allow myself to stay on that aspect.
I don't buy it! Republicans don't care about homeless people...period! Republicans don't want immigrants...period! The Republicans want all that is spelled out in the KKK handbook!
So let me address your points. You are presenting an either or situation here. There's no reason we can't do both. When most immigrants came to this country they weren't vetted at all, or very little. For example the Mexican and Canadian borders were open before 2007. Anyone could cross without a passport with a bare minimum of processing. Prior to 1906 nothing was required to immigrate to the U.S. from Mexico. After 1906 the only immigration processing that occurred at the Mexican border was the requirement to fill out a card. Different forms required different information. At Ellis Island people stood in lines until they reached a desk where they answered a series of 29 questions such as potential jobs and destination, then they were given "six second physicals" (actually 30 seconds). That was it. Between 1905 and 1914 they processed an average of 2,739 people a day. It took between 2 to 5 hours per person. Only 2% were detained. Those detained for non medical reasons lived on the third floor for up to a month. Medical detainees were treated at the on site hospital. The hospital was open for 28 years. You continue to use the term invader for refugees and immigrates. Why is that? I don’t understand why you think immigrates are bankrupting our country. Do you have some facts to back that up? Okay. That is one solution. Fine, as long as due process is followed. Except for the vengeance part. Okay except for the payback part. The jobs they acquire would have to pay enough for them to afford payback and still become upwardly mobile. Also they aren't criminals so I don't know why you're treating them as incarcerated prisoners. So here you are granting humane treatment. Food, shelter, and toilet paper. I’m glad you presented all this as it shows you have put some thought into the situation. These are human beings we’re talking about, not rats. We are the Untied States, not some third world dictatorship, we need to show compassion and show that compassion to others. There for the grace of God go you or I. I agree, but it isn’t the Democrats that are against the funds for better processing. Both parties agree we have immigration problems. The Republicans, under Trump, want a wall, the Democrats want the money to increase border security and humane treatment. Finally this took me a long time to answer...if I screwed up somewhere I'll address it.
Don't you know the KKK is Democratic? Since it was Democrats who started the KKK and Lincoln was a Republican it's actuly liberals who are racist. According to conservatives nothing about race relations since and how each party approached it matters. I wonder how I would be greeted if I came to a Klan meeting and brought up how much I like gun control and Obama. Not a very Democratic welcome on those topics I'd bet. I like the ignorance since it assumes A. Lincoln did what he did only for slavery and not other reasons. B. they care for the 1860's more than the 1960's. Which time is more recent and relevant? There was major shift then. The Demarcates adopted a clearer anti-racist pro civil rights stance and the racists were so mad they swore loyalty to the Republicans. The Republicans had to wink wink nudge for a few decades about that part of the party for votres then Trump came and made it mainstream to be pro white rights. Like do they not know this and really think the Lincoln fact is some checkmate?
I appreciate your sarcasm, but for the sake of the casual uninformed reader we might explain that the two parties did a switcheroo in Redneck support in the mid-1960s. The KKK made its debut in the former Confederate states in the 1860s in opposition to the Reconstruction state governments, experienced a second wave revival in the 1920s in the face of immigration from Catholic European countries, and enjoyed a third coming after the Supreme Court's desegregation efforts and the civil rights movement of the 1950s & 1960s. In those days, the "Solid South" was a powerful conservative voting bloc within the Democrat Party, and a member of the odd but effective New Deal coalition which included the strange bedfellows of Southern conservative segregationists attracted by FDR's populist economic measures and liberal racial and religious minorities. After the mid-sixties, the increasing support of civil rights and identity politics by the Democratic leadership caused the South to jump ship and go over to the Republicans, lured by Nixon's so-called "Southern Strategy." So today, most of the so-called "Red States" are Republican, and the party reflects the racial attitudes of the racists. Betcha there isn't a single KKK member today who votes Democrat.
The Big Flip Flop came when Nixon took office. Ultra conservatives with Charles Colson, Jerry Falwell, Strom Thurmond and others went to Nixon with the idea of making the Republican Party the home of honorable conservative white men who owned businesses and lots of land. When this was accomplished, the KKK platform became the Republican platform. Everything the KKK wanted, including a reduction in civil rights protection and a destruction of labor unions became a part of the Republican agenda. Later on they went after environmental protections which had been accepted by Nixon in 1972; and, they went after the Hippies with the drug war during Reagan's term. They blamed the Hippies for anti-war civil action and support of civil rights for minorities and women. The Equal Rights Amendment was not a Republican idea. When FDR got the New Deal passed through congress to save America from the devastation caused by unregulated business interests, the only two states opposed to FRD's New Deal were Indiana and Mississippi, both KKK strongholds to this day. The KKK has always been able to recruit new members by pushing gun rights...to protect whites from the Blacks, Mexicans, and other minorities.
Thank You Okie! You said it better than I could. We both know how that southern senator ended up with a Mulatto daughter...with a secret trust fund!
Both Trump and Pence have said publicly that they will not give an inch on the matter of their wall. They insist they will keep the government shut until they get what they want: A wall to keep Spanish speaking immigrants out. I pondered that line of thinking and saw that the Trump administration already had started to reduce government services to the American people. The shutting down of government does exactly that: It prevents the government from providing services. The KKK/Republican position is very simple to understand. They say anyone who takes government services or benefits is a bad person, because the taxes on the rich people would increase. Consequently, the Trump appointees have one right after the other been reducing government services to the people. From Housing, to education, to environmental protections, to benefits for old and disabled people, the Trump appointees have been telling Americans, "you don't deserve government help!"
unless you are white. Trump seems to think that government workers support shutting down the government. He has offered no proof that this is true., and I think this shutdown will bite him in the ass
800,000 government workers are working without pay or not working at all. The KKK wants the border closed and the government workers to be pushed out. That way the rich white land owners and business owners will pay less in taxes. Trump is every Klansman's dream come true. Mike Pence is handling all the technical parts.
So far, the big economic impact has been on the federal government workers. Reduced government services are only an annoyance, because "essential" workers are still working (without pay) and the shutdown is only partial. As it goes on, though, that will change. If the Social Security checks don't go out, Trump's base will notice.
I just saw an article which said TSA workers are calling in sick. Another article said White House Staff are getting $10,000.00 raises while the regular government workers get furloughed. The Trump/Pence administration is all about the rich!
Trump has become increasingly unhinged about his wall. It's the classic Trump who narrows his acceptance cone and digs his trench deeper to save his ego when he perceives a fictitious threat. Trump threatens years-long shutdown for his wall as GOP support begins to fracture By Seung Min Kim , Erica Werner and Josh Dawsey January 4 at 7:41 PM https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...ory.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.56ffc7b3ed5c excerpt: "Trump seemed to display little empathy for the 800,000 federal employees who have been furloughed or are working without being paid, saying that most workers support the shutdown and that the “safety net is going to be having a strong border because we’re going to be safe.” For workers who will not be able to pay their rent, Trump suggested that landlords would “work with” them and that he would encourage them to “be nice and easy” on their tenants. Some congressional Republicans have started to fret about the impact of the impasse, which hinges on Trump’s insistence on more than $5 billion in federal money toward a border wall that he repeatedly said would be funded by Mexico. No such funding has materialized."
