the thing here is you spend SO MUCH time with Mama that you have a different data set then your BFF. she sees her every week. think of a line graph. one visit, weekly. one data point. shows a clear trend when you connect the dots over time.
YOUR data points are more like a scatter plot/ diagram. some good days, some middling, some bad days, some specific trends (like time of day that it worsens) but thats info all over the chart. it doesnt show a clear trend until you analyze it. the outliers are harder to spot.

BFF could probably have found a better way to say it, instead of acting like you dont notice things around you, but she is operating from her graph. she cant figure out why you dont see the trends, but YOUR data doesnt look like hers, she doesnt see all the regular day stuff progressing slowly. weekly jumps are obvious when you arent drowning in observational data.
