I came up with the thought in Random Thoughts and thought I'd ask the same question, but with better answers here:

Do vegetarian fast food restaurants exist? Seems that someone should have come up with the idea already...

I live in the Midwest and I know there aren't any such things here...regular vegetarian restaurants, yes. But what about us veggies that are always on the go?

    What about us?

We don't even have vegetarian restaurants here, but there's a steakhouse every ten minutes...

Well, when you're a fulltime student and work fulltime as well, it's not always easy to have a sitdown meal. I literally have enough time to go from school to work...with only five minutes to eat. Packed lunches aren't always easy to keep cool or warm...a fast food veggie restaurant would get my business almost everyday of the week. Some of us don't have time for a sit down meal during the day.

*shrugs* it was just a thought.

I just tried a new vegetarian resturant(yesterday) out here(north east) on South Street, Philly. It was called Maoz. Check out if you have any around. The food was ready in 5 mins or less so I guess you could call it fast food. It was really good too. I'd go more often but its about 45 mins away.

There actually is a really good vegan/vegetarian "fast food" restaurant in Kalamazoo, MI. I haven't been there in awhile, but it's called Opies (I think that's how it's spelled). They serve really yummy stuffed bagels, veggie burgers, even soy ice cream.....It's actually inside this health club, but you can walk right in and eat at the restaurant, you don't have to be a member of the gym. The People's Food Co-op in Kazoo sells some of their food in bulk, like the stuffed bagels, though they are frozen........It's definately worth a try if your in the area!!! Peace.................Stacey

LOL Unfortunately Kzoo is two hours away from me...so it would be really far away for me to go to get fast food...I think I've heard of it though. I'll have to check it out when I go out there next.

Theres a really good fast food kinda restaurant in St. Pete, although I forgot its name. I just know where it is and what it looks like. If there isnt a long line, it probably takes about 3-5 minutes to get some food. It serves all organic foods for vegans, vegetarians, and omnis.
Havent been there in over like a year though.

it would be REALLY nice to have some vegetarian options in the fast food. i'm not a vegetarian, but i don't always feel like eating a bunch of meat and grease. in fact, that's pretty rare. and then your only other option is usually nasty garden burgers or flavorless salads. it's silly.

I live in New England, and there's this small- and I mean small- chain restaurant called O'Naturals. It serves everyone from vegans, like me, to carnivores. It's really good stuff. There are only 3 places opened up, though.

    Evos?

I just ate there on Friday. :) They're great. They even have a separate food-prep area for vegetarian meals.

I did an article on fast meal choices for vegetarians in St. Pete about a year ago. Some of the options I came up with:

    - pizza by the slice.
    - salad bar at the supermarket
    - mexican (there are a few fast food mexican places around here, but that may not be the case in all parts of the country)
    - fast food chinese
    - worst case: have a veggie burger at Burger King. They're actually not that bad.

Around here, more and more places are offering vegetarian sections of their menus. It's nice.

I was in a lovely vegetarian restaurant in Dublin today, go a 3 course meal for €9.95 which was good value, involved Crostini (bread with mozerella, black olives and some side salad), pasta of the day and some LOVELY tirmasu. Will be checking out the place again.
