I have a long-distance boyfriend and we've been together almost four months. Everything was going good and though he said he had some financial problems due to budget cuts and government probs in his country (I'm in U.S., he's in Germany) he would reserve a hotel room, schedule a flight, and come here in March. He reserved the hotel, but didn't get the flight yet. Then, about two or three weeks after he reserved the hotel, he said his ex had done a terrible thing and convinced both the German and U.S. governments that on his way to see me, he'd come to the U.S. and kill her. There was no violence in the relationship and the only threat was her putting a restraining order on him. One thing though is she never trusted him either and was always questioning him... but she was also selfish and would do things like break German law because she was an American (You can't have service animals in certain buildings in Germany, whereas you can have them everywhere here) So, I'm wondering if I should leave him... if I'm just not meant for long-distance relationships at all (this is my second). This will hurt both of us, and I'm leaning toward leaving... but what if he could resolve it and say "I'm sorry I made up that huge story just so I could hide the fact I can't fly there in March" But maybe that's not even enough. I can't stand liars! Please help!

I would tell him you care about him, but you care about yourself too. Everyone needs to be happy. If things would be easier with you two apart, then put things off.

It's not worth it if it creates drama and it's hard on you. If he cares about you, he'll understand. Sounds like he needs to fix things with his ex before getting involved again. It's not fair to you to have to put up with that.
