im seventeen and i love the grateful dead and im sad that i might never get to see an actual dead show.does anyone know if all the remaining members will be touring all together as the dead or will they just play in their own bands.thanx
hey man check out ratdog he always well almost always rocks.. i think he has ny dates.. check out the site
I've heard rumours that "The Dead" won't be touring this summer like they did the past few, but you definately should check out some Ratdog shows. I am also in central New York and have seen Ratdog in Syracuse last spring. They are playing in the spring tour at the Turning Stone for two nights but I'm pretty sure it's sold out. Also, Vince Welnick is playing in Syracuse in March (even though he isn't really a key member of the Dead.) I've heard lots of good things about Dark Star Orchestra too so I always try to look out for their tour dates.
I think there are some health issues and contracty things to work out. Hey, Mark from RTE asked who I was typing to....I mentioned your sig and the site traffic. His eyes popped open.
really the Dead haven't toured since 1995... while its fun, itr isn't the same. Despite all the keyboard players, JG was the central sound... can't go back for that.
This is from an article about Bobby Weir that came out today... Weir says if the surviving Dead members are to tour again this year, it will be a "modest summer run." http://www.asuwebdevil.com/issues/2005/02/03/arts/691694
thanx everyone for the info ill have to check out some ratdog shows and see if maybe i could get tickets, i would be happy if i just got to see 1 show b4 the rest of the band members stop touring or pass away.even if they were onstage in wheelchairs and oxygen tanks
You can listen to dead shows online at this Dallas radio station on friday nights, I have a link on my wife's site: www.paisleydays.com
My brother Sean is a technical advisor on the board for RTE, living in New York. I'm Ryan - live up in Vermont.
i actually dont go to see The Dead really for the music anymore.. i mainly go because i love the people that go to see them, they're really great people
