What's Happening???

Our router keeps flashing red but I can make it work again by picking up the phone receiver for a moment. Do any computer-clever people know what's happening?

 

We don't really have a "Rapture Church" in my area but I am generally a big fan of the rapture, in theory. It would really nail down a lot of things.

 

I'm more software than hardware but I'd recommend restarting the router if you have yet to do that. I think the worst case scenario is one of your lines is messed up which would probably require a technician.

 

Yeah restart, pick up phone.. Works for a while. It probably is the wire, but it's the bit we did from the road to the house. There are four connections in it and one or all probably needs redoing. I just was curious as to what actually physically happens when I pick up the phone though. Why it works, temporarily.

 

By no means quote me on this, I'm actually quite interested in why this is happening for you too... But I think essentially in a standard operation the phone company divvies up your phone connections with your internet connections, so my guess is that when the Internet connections fail it attempts to use the phone connection as well somehow.

 

I love the internet..how great is it that I can go online to order groceries,pay using bank card and get them delivered..fantastic!

Magical. I was thinking about it the other day actually. I can remember when I didn't buy things online, but only in a two dimensional dream memory kind of way.

Like my Pa, he goes to the Tab outlet to place a bet still like a sucker! I tell him it's all on his phone, he doesn't trust this "electronic bank details"

 

Just had to give my dog a big hug. My wife left her car port door knee height all night long! And he was still in the yard when I saw him. Not sure if he may have gone for a wonder put the front but if he did he came back.

 

Yeah mate they nearly turned me into a lesbian aswell !!
