Sorry did you not understand what you had said LOL

I’ll try and explain but I don’t know how more simplistic I can go.

OK my point was that some 100,000 people the membership of the Conservative Party are going to choose who is going to be the next Prime Minister of the UK (population some 60 million people).

And adding “So much for the supposed democratic deficit of the EU”

My point been that leader will have a lot of influence on the direction and policies of the party and the counrty even though few of us elected them into that very important post.

You replied that “We don't vote for a President in this country we vote for a party to govern the country and that party chooses a leader Didn't you know that ?”

Seeming to imply that the new leader will not have a lot of influence on the direction and policies of the party and therefore the country. I disagree and brought up the example of Thatcher.

I mean if anything you are highlighting that the democratic deficit is even worse

In my view if the Prime Minister, the political leader of the country, is forced to resign, steps down or dies then there should be a general election.

    *

Now can you explain your thinking or are you still lost?

You are the one lost here and trying to Bluff your way out of it again !
    1/
I said In this country we vote for a Party Not a Person (other than your local MP ) otherwise there is no ballot paper with the party leaders name on it ! am I right or Wrong ? Answer this !!
    2/
I Asked Who do you think should pick the leader of the Government if not the Government ?
    3/
I never Implied anything ! that was your implication
    4 /
there is never a general election when a party leader (PM ) retires dies or resigns that's our law ! they pick a new one right or wrong ?
    5/
Your childish Pettiness will never make you right ! Yes I understood very well what I said (just more cheap shots from a Loser )
    6/
Your view is just your View not a fact ! although you keep insisting it is
    7/
The 60 million you mentioned had a chance to vote on Brexit but your not happy about that so why should I believe you ?

Hope this is simple enough for YOU to understand

You do realise that Brexit might be sorted late October don’t you?
In the meantime if you keep responding to this guy he will continue to pester you on this long after Brexit is done and finished.
So that’s about 10 years of your life gone then

Good luck with that !

    You seem quite angry.

But you’re right about one thing, there are some parts of this thread I’ve not not bothered to read lol. Wouldn’t waste your time on me not going to argue with anyone, just sharing an opinion.

LOL but it doesn’t actually address what was said – Again I’ll try and put it as simply as possible

I was not saying that was not the process (I was actually explaining the process to someone else) but I was questioning if that should be the process.

Should the leader of the country who has a huge influence on what the government does be chosen by some 100,000 party members or by the country?

Yes it is annoying that people vote in elections for leaders rather than policies that that is how it goes.

It seems to me that if a political party changes its leader and it is in government it should have a general election to confirm the new leadership.

And that seems very important at a time like this when who becomes leader is going to be so significant.

As I said I think there is a democratic deficit in this process.

But as said the problem is that leave only ‘won’ because those wanting it lied and some people fell for those lies.

Being proud of such a ‘win’ is like been proud of a medal you received for doing a half-marathon when you know you did 12 miles of it in an Uber

Also because of the corruption on the leave side that took place it is likely the vote would have been nullified by the electoral commission if it had been an actual binding vote rather than just been the lesser consultative one, instead all they could do was fine the leavers (and the leavers in question admitted their guilt).

LOL how am I or anyone else supposed to ‘get it’ when you are incapable of explaining what ‘it’ is?

But you haven’t, and you haven’t done that anywhere in this thread, and like every other time I’ll ask you to point out where this has supposed to have happened and you will refuse to do so.

The thing is that if you do go through this thread you repeatedly refuse to answer questions or address the criticisms of your views.

But that's not surprising given how weak the leaver position is.

    Being

I’d say more world-weary and somewhat saddened by just how easily some people are bamboozled by so obvious lies.

LOL and that brought to mind a quote from Oscar Wilde “It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear a fool than open it and remove all doubt”

Thing is that this is a debating forum if you are unwilling or unable to debate why come here at all?

Although I can see why you are running away if your post were the best you could do, they make it clear you haven’t give the subject that much thought.

Could be i think the original diss goes back to the bible - Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

    What questions?

And in what way have I state opinion as fact?

[edit] You were asking me about the process but I was not saying that was not the process but I was questioning if that should be the process.

Yes that it is my opinion - that the system should be changed - it is a fact that that is my opinion.

    What?

I do think is very funny that you seemed to take so much offence at me supposedly not answering your questions when you are leaving having not answered so many from so many people.

All those criticisms of your ideas unaddressed

It’s like you never ever had any answers and no ability to explain your thinking or to even show you were capable of it.

    Oh well bye

Keep a debate concise and engaging and you may find you have more luck.

Plus a debate isn’t much of one if the other person is unwilling to do so.

Plus debates shouldn’t feel personally insulting, you were taking the piss out if me at many points much like above.

And for the record I am educated on the subject, I’m not going to explain myself, but again, rude.

Anyways, as another great mind once said

“I want a kinder, gentler, politics”.

LOL had that one before – people asking for short concise explanations then when they are given complain that they are simplistic and lacking in detail so you give longer, fuller explanations only to have them say they are too longwinded and unconcise….

It’s just a way of not debating at all – just as you are doing right now.

Well that would be you then

Another trick – playing the faux righteous indignation card, I mean come on you snowflake, this is how things are debated down the pub and amongst friends.

Do you know what I think is insulting – it’s someone coming to a debating forum not reading a thread so shitting out a whole load of crap that has already been covered, who then arrogantly refuses to discuss it.

Sorry if you want respect show respect.

Look mate, I hold no personal animosity toward you if anything my feeling are one of resigned humour, I’ve seem your type before people that want to look big and knowledgeable but don’t have the ability to back it up.

Such people have every right to post but really they are just a waste of space.

Well your post so far haven’t been a great showcases of your supposed knowledge.

I think it more likely that you are not going to explain your views is because you can’t.

Is that Jeremy Corbyn 'I want a kinder politics or George W. Bush I want a kinder and gentler nation.

Or are you thinking of someone else?

What I would like to have is open and honest debate but you and many other leavers don’t seem willing or able to do that.

Why do you hold onto ideas that you cannot defend in any rational way from criticism?

Sad to say this is why I just will not engage with Balbus in any conversations.
He will not listen to what you have to say and then always asks 'please explain'.
Very tiresome and I refuse to engage in his silly games.

Perhaps I have him wrong, as there are times he comes across as quite a nice person.
    Not very often though.

In the meantime it is the Peterborough election today.
I do hope that The Brexit Party win.
This would be yet another nail in the coffins of The Conservative or Labour Party.

LOL - you have never engaged – don’t blame your inability to explain your views in any rational way on me.

One of your first posts in this thread was “With respect I have not got the time or energy to explain why”

And you have basically stuck with that throughout.

Thing is that populists often do get a lot of votes the thing is are populist political leaders or groups good for a country especially if they campaign on misdirection and deceit.

I mean think about it in the whole time you have been here you have been unable to address the criticisms of the leave position NEVER not once.

You just run away over and over, saying you haven’t the time, saying you haven’t the energy, saying you can’t be bothered.

Think about that - why can’t you, you seem to have the time and energy to push leaver propaganda but never enough to actually defend it.
