is their a particular name for the style of bands that have come outta the last couple a years? for example "the killers", "franz ferdenan" (cant spell it).im not particularly into this music, it kinda sucks. some of it can be good though. im just wondering why theres no name for it and its fans. like there was that emo crap around a couple of years ago that had a name 'emo".so whats the style of this generations music called?

emo started in the late 80s.
teh shit they play on mtv isnt emo, it's shit made to get retarded people to buy their albums an make money for the man.

the killers is like indie-rock but they arent that good so ide just call it indie-shit.

I've always concider bands like modest mouse, pavement, built to spill, and pixies to be indie rock, but franz ferdinand and such could be classified as indie rock as well...or indie-dance rock.

hmm... yeah some musicstyles are pretty hard to define eh... can anybody think of a musicstyle to bescribe calexico? or DAAU? or radiohead (although progpop might be a pretty good name...) I've always thought dat it was indierock, although retrorock and artrock sound good as well....

emo is pretty cool... although I'm starting to like it less...

I think franz ferdinand rocks the house...are u all crazy...

have u ever heard of the polyphonic spree...they are awesome too....the lead guy i think is from trippin daisy....

i think sometimes people are too 'cliche' on the music they listen too..i luv all kinds of music...and well..
i guess i'm not into rap, punk, or country..but i do dig some songs in these genres.....but...i do appreciate all music..wether i like it or not...

    don't limit yourself people....

Indierock would mean that the band is independent.. Modest Mouse is no longer indie, why do you think they made it onto MTV...

why cant we just call it "Rock"... a lot of bands start out just being a rock band, and all these extra labels and subgenres just get attached to them...

I have no problem with that, as long as bands like Green Day aren't called rock.

It seems the title indie rock ended with the 90's......

I think Franz Ferdinand is alright, I like some of the members earlier band 'the Yummy Fur" better though.

I think the Killers stuff I have heard is pretty catchy, not my favorite ever, but not a bad thing when it comes on the Radio.

Those are all former Indie bands..
(former because that damn MTV has taken over them, and theres no turning back, now)

wooteedoo... if I was in a rock band that made good music, it'd be a fucking wet dream of the highest order to get my video shown on mtv. I'm glad Franz Ferdinand is an "mtv band", atleast there's one band spreading good music around the world, instead of all that pop-"punk" crap.

i'm just saying that they can't be on mtv and remain an indie band..

&i'm not denying their greatness. [I actually like some 'mtv bands'], but once they get on mtv, the quality of their music kind of decreases..
Maybe it's just me, but thats what I see..
But hey, if they can pull through and still keep rockin, then more power to them.

I guess I would call it Rock, or Pop-Rock. To be technical. A lot of different types of music can be catagorized as Rock.

Yeah.... those indie bands are so not-gay-sexin. :( I mean, they're okay... but they let the big boys take them over and own them... now they've all got herpes in their asses. :(
