Unusual to find someone who understands the importance of relative humidity and the difference between sensible and latent cooling. In the theater, I evaporate the refrigerant at +2 degrees centigrade, to maximize offsetting the moisture from 1000 people coming in dripping with sweat. On a hot humid day, we can run off 5 gallons of water an hour.
The best way to understand how humid the weather is to use dewpoint. Cause when the temp increases, percent is getting lower but the weight of humidity in the air is the same There are wrong beliefs about weather like humid cold. There is no such thing as the humid cold. Cause cold air cannot hold much humidity. 100 percent humidity at 0°C is a very dry weather in fact. It is a dewpoint of 0°C
Exactly and as I said you are one of only a very few people who understand this. When I was teaching thermodynamics, I posed the question to my students:- If it takes a kettle 5 minutes to boil. Why does it take it a further 25 minutes to boil dry, without the water exceeding 100 degrees and how does the energy consumed by the kettle and not making the water hotter comply with Newton's laws. Very few students gave me the answer, that assuming the water started at 10 degrees, would take 80 calories per gram to boil it and a further 540 calories to vaporize it. In air conditioning chilling air to 16 degrees, maintaining the suction pressure in the coils to provide 2 degrees on the fins helps in maintaining the "air off" below its dew-point. But in applications such as the theater, the air is further chilled and then reheated by the condensing coils (or water to the cooling towers). Calculations of the moisture discharged by the audience are used, along with the 400-600 watts of sensible heat that each person provides. This is all mumbo jumbo to the vast majority of the public. Sensible heat is the term used for heat ignoring any latent component.
The high reached 34.3°C a couple of days ago in my city, which is the hottest temp of the year so far. Yesterday's high was a little cooler, 33.4°C.
Today has been a cooler day than previous days. Currently, the temperature is 22.2°C and cloudy as of 7:53 pm.
The hottest high of July was 33.4°C on Monday and the coldest high of July was 22.1°C on Thursday in the city. They occured in 3 days.
Sun hasn't showed its ugly face today. The temperature is 22.6°C in the city. Cloudy. It past 2 pm. I slept at a higher elevated part of the city. It was a cool nice night to sleep with the window open at house.
The weather has been cloudy and rainy for days with short breaks. Yesterday it rained a lot. Currently 21.4°C and cloudy as of 10:39 am.
Excessive Heat Warning this weekend Massachusetts 7 hours ago – National Weather Service Saturday and again Sunday values are expected to range from 107 to 112 degrees ... The level of heat and humidity is very dangerous ... TEMPERATURE...Actual air temperatures will be 96 to 102 degree range both Saturday and Sunday. It will not cool off much overnight, with lows in most areas only dropping to the 70s.
After Reading Some Of The Posts In "Candy's Place" Lately.......I Fully Understand Why...... Cheers Glen.
Current temperature is 38.8°C as of 4:06 pm. I am in the hottest place of the country, near the syria border.
