What about the independent journalists who get silenced and underspend by media conglomeration?

Paying for higher education and medical care are good investments. The Scandanavian countries have maintained a high standard of living, are rich, technologically advanced, and have Fortune 500 Companies, while providing more economic equality and a safety net for their citizens. And that's a bad thing? UBI maximizes individual liberty by letting individuals decide how best to spend their resources. Milton Friedman liked it. It's very libertarian. Some will spend it frivolously, but many will spend it productively, for the greater good in the long run.
You mean, like Alex Jones InfoWars? You think Private companies should be forced to provide platforms so that he can spread conspiracy theories that Sandyhook was staged and the dead children were really live crisis actors? Or 4-chan can spread Pizzagate? Or 8-chan can be used to plan mass murders? Media conglomerates are free enterprise. Are you some kind of commie trying to inhibit private companies deciding how to control their property? You're just whining cuz you'd like to be like Alex and be able to spread whatever fake news you want without inhibition.

Sanders, if he were president that is, couldnt control YouTube anymore than he can control the scope of stories covered by Fox News, CNN, etc. You're reaching.

He wants to make it easier for independent media outlets to thrive (and that is something government has some level of control over as they can prevent mergers from creating monopolies), meaning that, provided the journalists you follow are actual journalists who take their profession seriously, rather than provocateurs looking to make a quick buck by becoming YouTube famous, they would have more options as far as working for independent media outlets. What about that do you dislike exactly?

Again, because you never answer this part, who decides what is a waste of a life, and what isn't?

I don't even know who Yang is, by the way. My mother explained the concept of UBI to me when I was ten or something.

  6. Well, Gillibrand is out. An odd spot to pull out, but it may remove the pressure on Gabbard about qualifying for the debates.

That is very good news . . . something also relevant is that candidates for high offices like President, Prime Minister, Chancellor, and the like are especially good when they have been mayors earlier in their political careers
Buttigieg is in fourth place too, it looks like . . .

Senator Sanders was once mayor of Burlington, Vermont
US President Chester A Arthur and candidates de Blasio, Bloomberg, Lindsay, Giuliani, La Guardia, were mayors of NYC; I think it was Boston of which President Coolidge had been mayor . . .
1972 moderate Democrat candidate Sam "Mad Sam The Accountant" Yorty was mayor of Los Angeles
Jesse Ventura was mayor of a small city, it may have been Burnsville, Minnesota

One and perhaps two of the Socialist mayors of Milwaukee in the early XX. Century were the national candidates of the that party at the time; there were also folks who wanted mayors Norquist and Barrett to consider as well s short time ago.

Honourable mention goes to 2000 Democratic candidate Carol Mosely Braun who was the incumbent Recorder of Deeds of Cook County, Illinois. One of the early US presidents may have been County Clerks and/or Tax Assessors and the like soon.

We will be lucky if that's all he does. He doesn't like to lose, and his tantrums are infamous, while congress gave him the power to torture and kill anyone he wants, without so much as informing them.

    But it's so....libertarian!

Well, its kinda like free speech activism. Sure there will be some n'ere-do-well trolls who spend their time stirring shit and spreading malicious propaganda and fake news on social media websites, but the theory goes there will also be those otherwise poor folks who use the opportunity to better themselves, become real estate moguls and demagogues and maybe eventually make it to the White House

I fail to see how Yang is a propagandist when his views on a UBI are supported by his own proofessional experience in workforce automation (he started a company helping those affected by automation and realized how futile retraining would be eventually), and previous experiments with a UBI.

Interestingly enough Yang has gathered a bit of support among right leaning libertarians

Rutger Bregman is another one who has given some interesting talks on UBI. He's worth watching, 6, if you're actually interested in learning more about it rather than writing it off before doing any in depth research.
Plus Rutger Bregman is a hot Dutch historian and it's worth watching his speeches just for that lol

I read his op-ed and I see a lack of sincerity.

He's had opposition reporters kicked out of his rallies before they even began.
Kaitlin Bennett reacts to being kicked out of Bernie Sanders rally
If this is how he's gonna treat his critics in the press, one can only imagine how he'd wield his power as president. He would be the next Abe Lincoln. No, I don't mean that in a good way. I mean that in a shutting down newspapers and deporting congressman Clement Vallandigham kind of way

As a tax payer, we should have a voice in where and how our money is spent. Maybe you should answer how subsidizing someone able-bodied and unwilling benefits society.

Besides, for those of you saying we won't be affected since UBI is going to be taxed out of corporations who automate the workforce. Those same corporations will tax us by raising the prices on all the goods and services we're stuck with buying from them in this corporatocracy we're living in.

The kind of blind trust in government spending you're promoting, is the kind of thinking that got us an over-funded military spending problem and a multi-trillion dollar deficit.

If spreading rumors was a crime. The alphabet channels you worship would've lost their brodcasting rights years ago.

When I read Trump's tweet saying it was a sad day for democrats that she dropped out, because he feared her the most. I had a hard time remembering who she was.

I looked up the name, I thought the blonde one's name was Amy Klobuchar all along. LOL

So what if a few libertarians like it?

Protecting the 1st amendment is a very liberal idea. Yet I don't see you standing up for it at all.

  17. Gabbard says she won't run as an independent if she doesn't receive nomination.

This was a stupid question to ask her. Threatening to jump from the party after a first try at the top seat would be a stupid move. She could have to chase this for a decade more.

Oh, but I so stand up for it--as it's been interpreted by the courts: no incitement, no libel, no slander, no crying fire in crowded theaters, no fighting words, no obscenity, and private companies can control the speech on their platforms--apart from that, speak as freely as you want.
