Im mostly just kidding around... but i am serious when I say I think women dont fully understand how lucky they are to be women in america... there is a lot of benefits they do get for being women in this society... And in real life, when I talk to feminists, I like to give them points against feminism because they always react like i am the living embodiment of satan.
the ladies love you too, bogeymeister! and I get your point, but I don't think we get so many benefits we don't deserve our own forum here!
but you have the love and sex forum to talk about your bleeding vaginas... what else could possibly be spoken about in a womens issue forum.
men deserve a forum too ;p..but we're told to make a private forum...blah, thats hardly a consolation
if women get their forum I want a mens forum so they can talk about testicular cancer and erectile disfunction
Health issues specific to women receive WAY more funding in this country. Prostate cancer claims more lives each year than any other form of cancer, and is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in America among men. Yet breast cancer research receives almost double the federal funding. Complain about the overall failures of American health care all you want, but don't think for a second that women are drawing the short straw. Men have always been and continue to be seen as expendable (at least compared to women).
you know, i've always thought of feminism encompassing issues like, oh, you know, discrepancies between the pay rate of men and women, or female representation in business and government. somehow i must have been so ungrateful, thinking about those minor things, instead of thanking uncle sam for letting me wear pink. (and for those of you who don't remember, we used to have a private forum set up as men's issues back in the day, run by digger. for the most part, the people who posted in it were still women, and digger, and a couple of guys. the guys on the forums just didn't seem that interested. you'd go for two weeks or more without getting a single post in the whole forum. the biggest issues dealt with the male role in the family, and screenings for things like prostate cancer. that was about all anyone could come up with i've got no qualms with there being another. but just because there isn't a men's forum doesn't mitigate the need for a women's one.)
] Nope. Women have representation in business in government... Nothing to whine about. & you can wear pink, lucky bitches.
yeah..government representation? Women have the same rights to run as men do. The highest diplomat and arguablly the most powerful person behind bush is a woman.
Mui, Your posts in this partcular section are just mean-spirited and nasty. Womyn are paid .75 on the dollar; how is that fair? By the way, if you let the status quo determine your career or what colors you can wear or how to feel about womyn, I think you're a fool.
quote: They already have the right to be a housewife and the right to get free shit because they are hot. They don't even have to wash dishes anymore. Plus if you ever lay a finger on a girl, they have the right to put you in jail. You know what, I agree with MUI 100%. I don't think the women of today have much at all to complain about....of course I'm way against violence toward not only women, but everybody. Men ARE seen as expendible. I remember living in Seattle and they had this major campaign to "get women and children off the street," what about the men?! Women do get the option to stay home if they want to, its not acceptable in general for a man to do the same...women almost always get custody of children in a divorce...etc etc. There were important gains made by earlier generations of women, but by this point I think its kind of crass for 21 year old women to be complaining about not having equality. I consult in corporate America, and nearly everyone I've seen promoted to leaders of a department in the last 3 years are women.
