Go barefoot as much as you possibly can. Your soles will get progressively tougher. You’ll even be able to go barefoot in Winter but use caution. I can walk on packed snow and ice even when temps dip way below freezing. I have to get my feet warmed up soon after walking through snow that covers my foot. Frostbite can set in quickly at this point and the toes will be the first to go. I can sometimes feel that “tingling” sensation in them and I don’t want to start losing body parts. The other issue is barefeet are fuckin slippery, you can go on your ass pretty quick. Just walking into a store with tile floors and wet feet will send you on your ass.

  3. Watch those acorns. That’s why it’s called Fall, ‘cause those fuckers drop from the trees faster than you can say OUCH SHIT!!!

Thanks for the advice guys, yeah it's all about testing and pushing boundaries in several ways isn't it. Very helpful to know about the lack of reactions you get from people, they definitly just go about their lives and keep to themselves more than I'd expect. Really amazing how they can put up with the cold. I have been walking around our garden on the wet nights and after how slimy the paths feel it's amazing how quickly they dry off. Saves time not messing about with shoes...

Bare feet are the best footwear for the rain and wet but just be careful as those supermarket and store floors can be slippery underfoot also I've found smooth stone to be quite slippery too.

The white stripes on parking lots and streets can get pretty slippery when wet too.

Since I have suede shoes, it occurs to me that you may be right.

When it rains though, I will probably change into a different pair of shoes so the new ones don't get ruined. The problem with this model is that it sometimes only starts to rain after I leave the house for the day, leaving no convenient opportunity to change shoes...

There was a heavy rainfall last night, and there's a low spot between my house and detached garage which turns into a puddle. No better way to get through it than with bare feet!

Well all the more reason to simply go barefoot!

  10. When your soles are well conditioned and the ground is sunny warm, goin’ barefoot is pretty fuckin’ great!

They do seem a lot easier to deal with than wet shoes.

I'm definitely going to try to hit the ground running when the good weather comes back next year. Having said that, I imagine that if you can put up with reactions through bad weather, it'll be a breeze when everyone around you is in sandals.

Will still be barefoot as much as possible through the winter but for me I'll only be able to cope with doing it in private :)
