essentially anyone of you who are somehow (even in the teeniest way) have an exposure to children or are raising them etc... if you're crafty, do these kids a favour and TEACH THEM SOMETHING! I value very much my mother and grandmother taking time from their busy schedules as I was growing up to teach me how to sew, knit and crochet... it was tedious at the time, but I eventually got the hang of it and I can now make some kewl projects, hem my own clothes, and make great presents for the holidays! Looking back I value the time I spent with these two strong women in my family, what great role models. it's like getting a big emotional hug.
it is!! and it makes feel like a part of the secret girl group in my family. Although, teaching me to knit is like teaching a snake to grow feet.
EXACTLY! My boyfriend's aunts all had kids very young and so we babysit them a lot and always teach them fun stuff to get them away from the fucking tv! - That's all a lot of kids ever do these days, which is a great shame...
The only little one I'm around is my two year old niece, but we're working on stuff. She'd rather unravel everything, but that's OK, too. I'm learning how to color, again.
hahaha mouse gnome, its always nice to feel 2 years old again! my mom tried to teach me how to sew, but i always thought it was lame and hell, and now i reget it.. i was the sporty, tomboyish type back when she was teaching me, and i thought it was a complete waste of time, i wanted to be out in the backyard climbing trees and shooting baskets... but now ive circled around and now im not really sporty, still a little tomboyish but i like to do crafts like hemp stuff, croheting and knitting (i did learn how to crohet i cant spell when i was a little younger but my mom bribed me, saying i could make a blanket with my favorite bball teams logo on it.. i never got good enough to do like that, but i can do the basic stuff!) but i regret not taking the time to learn how to sew, cause i wish i could make my own skirts and pants and stuff... i can BARELY can a straight stich on the sewing machine!! grrrr...
i agree. my daughter knows how to sew and crosstitch she doesn't do it alot but she does know. i am getting more into it again so i am hoping she will want to be a part of it on her own. its nice to see people who still know the crafts. sometimes it seems like 'kids these days' don't do anything but videgames...
