Elliot Smith - from a basement on a hill...

anyone else think this is an excellent album? i bought it the other day and kept putting off listening to it and now i wish i'd listened to it as soon as i bought it...it's pretty fucking great...

 

haven't got the album but i have a lot of songs by him, i love you elliot.. no really i do...


the songs are addictive... i listen to them every so often and when i do i listen to them a lot... *sniff* oh elliot why'd you have to go?

 

apparently if you listen to his albums in the order they came out you can hear the music gradually get more and more depressing...to start with it seems more sort of "things suck...but it'll be fine soon" and going right through to "things suck and they always will"

 

what a coincidence, im listening to this album right now!

The album is one of elliott's most depressing indeed, but there are some songs that sound as if they are rather hopeful in their tone, such as "a fond farewell" and "Pretty (ugly before)."

I really miss elliott smith...to bad i didnt get into him till just a little before he commited suicide

 

I love that album. T'is one of my favourites at the moment. Personally I find XO more depressing though.
