that's awful, & I'm glad you're safe at home. The hardest thing for me wasn't getting in the habit of washing my hands more frequently... It's staying in the habit of washing them more frequently. It's getting to be a bitch! :) But that's how you beat it. That and I have latex gloves in my backpack for the computers on campus that we use for learning foreign language (I'm in Spanish 2). The mask I don't have and don't see very often on others. Maybe we just haven't been hit very hard yet or something.

I am not sure ANYWHERE in the world is safe now Gal.
This is pretty much a Pandemic now.
Surprisingly enough there have been NO reports of the Coroner :grinning: virus being reported on Madeira.

Yes I am washing my hands at pretty much every opportunity now.
I think that there are far to many people out there (not you obviously)! who have pretty much terrible hygiene habits.
The ones I think who are particularly disgusting are those who come out of the toilet cubicle wherever after doing a number 2, and then walk out without washing hands.
Of course after having a wee while holding ones Donger should merit a 20/30 second hand wash nowadays.
Or any days if it comes to that!
Is it any wonder with people like that around then this Coroner virus is spreading like hell!

If you can afford the worst case scenario--

    1. getting Coronavirus or 2. Being quarantined and potentially missing a few days of work.

Then I would say--just go. I likely would.

I have a trip coming up in April and I am hoping much of the panic dies down by then...

I think that the risk of getting quarantined for a couple of weeks in another country is the biggest problem.

And that was at least part of our concern wilsjane.
We wanted that holiday in Madeira, but even the small the possibility of being quarantined made us not book.
Rock and hard place comes to mind.

And to think I was a nats cock away from booking a holiday to Madeira for travel on 16th March 2020.
Now THATS what I call a close shave!

    Pretty frightening stuff here!

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html

Boris Johnson announces the most draconian lock-down in British peace or wartime history:
People are banned from leaving home except for food, medical treatment, ONE exercise per day or 'essential' work...
Or the police will FINE you!

    • Boris Johnson is imposing dramatic new UK lockdown after weekend saw people flout 'social distancing'
    • PM said from tonight people should only go out for essential goods, medical needs, or brief exercise
    • Britons should only travel to and from work if it is 'absolutely necessary' and it cannot be done at home
    • He said shops selling non-essential goods are now being closed, along with playgrounds and churches
    • Police will have powers including fines to enforce the extraordinary measures being brought into place
    • Claims that there would be a 'Cabinet mutiny' if the Prime Minister did not move to enforce its restrictions
    • Labour MP and doctor Rosena Allin-Khan warned PM's 'relaxed attitude' and 'mixed message' would cost lives
    • The UK death toll has risen by 54 in just 24 hours amid scenes of people gathering in parks and on beaches
    • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

England confirmed 46 more deaths, while Wales and Scotland each confirmed four more fatalities from the life-threatening infection - meaning the UK's death toll has almost doubled since Friday. Wales has now recorded a total of 16 deaths from the killer virus, the second highest in the UK outside of England. Fourteen patients have succumbed to the illness in Scotland, while Northern Ireland has reported two deaths. The remaining 303 fatalities are in England. 6,650 people in the UK are known to have caught the coronavirus, a rise of 967 from the previous day - the second highest total so far.

So you in Victoria are going through this as well Suz.
Practically the whole planet is suffering now one way and another.
I have just been reading about your home, and we are more or less in the same boat.

Department of Health and Human Services Victoria | Coronavirus update for Victoria – 23 March 2020

like I previously said at the start of this thread.
I was sssoooo close to doing that booking, and if we had gone then just being there and getting home would have been hell!

  18. When you have things in your life that is paused due to a horrible virus that is spreading rapidly around the world you need to sit down and take note of the things around you.
All of us are in social isolation mode at the moment. That means we can still go to the supermarket if we need to go there. Go to the chemist if we need to. Etc.

It's not a shutdown just yet. Things are closing though. No pubs, clubs and sporting events are allowed due to the ban on large gatherings.

    You are so kind Glen.
And I will take what you say there as a very nice compliment really.
Must admit with spending more time at home now with this ‘Lock Down’ I should have even more time to post on the forum. I have gotten to like quite a lot of people here Glen.
And this includes you and Suz and Zen to name a few of course!
