Lol. I didn't know Palmdale was north of Los Angeles! :D

No, not Palmdale. But I don't want to divulge too much information regarding my location. Sorry. :)

  4. He shut down travel from China for one. Are you suggesting he has done nothing? Or that it just wasn't up to your standards? It sure wasn't 194 days.

And just where to you see a contradiction? Or are you just casting baseless, mindless aspersions, sir?

Why is that? I think Trump is wrong because his response has been incoherent and erratic. I think he's right to acknowledge that ""we cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself." I thought I made clear that I don't favor prolonged shelter in place restrictions--only long enough to give us the time to acquire the medical equipment and beds to accommodate symptomatic people. Obviously, such severe restrictions for over eighteen months or so would deal a lasting blow to the economy, and in the long run, to our health. By that time, the weather may have worked to our advantage, and medicines for treating the symptoms, if not a vaccine for the virus itself, may be available. Possibly, too, there may be more folks who have become immune through exposure by then.

So you have tried to rationalise the argument, have given different weights to all the reasons for isolation that are important to you, left out the reasons that aren't

I can deduce from that you would go another 1 to 2 months self isolating before you were ready to throw every 80 year old in America to the wolves

  10. I can't believe he's so reticent to doom the elderly. They're barely people. We should all just go on spring break and say fuck em.

In this instance, let's just pretend my opinion is irrelevant

I want to see how long people are actually going to hold out for

Its everyone else making the claims, not me

  13. Uh, wolves are endangered, so it's just not worth the risk. Better to shove grandma into a furnace at a power plant to get some use out of her.

    Superb response, WP!

Those afflicted with TDS think they are so much smarter than the rest of us hoi polloi who might vote for a New York street fighter like the Don. Just seeing the way they frame their arguments is enough to give the lie to that self-aggrandizing position. It amounts to nothing more than Orange Man Bad.

These creeps think they can read Trump's mind and divine his motives. Well they cannot. And despite my dislike for his style, I make no such presumption. They love to portray it as Trump throwing granny under the bus. As someone who, based on age alone, is at some increased risk of serious illness from the CCP virus, I could counter that the TDS crowd wants to bankrupt the USA and compromise Gen Z's financial horizons to protect octogenarians. The entire way they go about looking at this pandemic tells me they are primarily interested in using it as a tool against Trump.

Although I consider Trump a "truth-challenged" person, I see the Dems flocking to chronic liars like HRC and Joe Biden. It even gets worse- mainstream media carries water for those people, while gleefully exposing every exaggeration and misstatement by Trump (of which, undeniably, there are far too many). Nevertheless, these same dishonest, agenda-driven pseudo journalists didn't much care when Obama claimed if you like your insurance company you can keep it. CNN deserves the charge of "fake news", which is unfortunate, because they have done some excellent work in exposing such evils as human trafficking.

What's your solution, genius? Any way you slice it, lots of folks are gonna die--probably more of those with existing health problems. The choice is dying from the virus or dying from starvation after economic collapse. And either way, we can't predict whose number will come up, but we need to take measures to keep the numbers as low as possible. If the disease is still raging when the facilities and equipment are ready, we've at least bought time and we still try to keep the elderly and most vulnerable in protective conditions. You've followed the Trump trajectory: denial, minimization, then blame those who take it seriously for not taking it seriously enough. Your sidewalk trolling from your haven in Australia is particularly galling in these circumstances.

TDS? Why do we have to use these terms?

    Street fighter?
You mean as in a gang member?
I don't think anyone can read Trump's mind, it seems to flip flop, waver, and degenerate into babble most of the time.

Why would you think any U.S. citizen wants to bankrupt the United States?
Trump seems to be supplying his own tools.

"Truth-challenged"? You mean bold faced liar don't you?
So you think Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden lie more than Trump! Got any stats to back that up, or do you just have HDS and BDS?

Then, of course, using the Trump playbook you attack the media. "Fake News"! Got any facts to back that up?

    I'll wait.....

  17. I think he shoots from the hip way too much. Which makes him more fact-challenged. He seems to like to power through a discussion when he's losing ground. Typical corporate shit as far as I can tell. If he was really inclined to engage in subterfuge against the democrats, I'm positive he'd have them chasing their tails. He'd go after their cash cow issues while making a mockery of their social engineering goals.

Granted, his appointments to the Kennedy Center last year were quite amusing (John Voigt of all people), so he's capable of really making the lives of leftists miserable. If he wanted to.

His second term is going to be very interesting. With the courts realigned he'll have a better chance at prosecuting all the liars and crooks who were so welcoming in his first term. But I actually expect the wealthy and well-connected to dodge the whole show, as usual. S he'll have to go after their pet projects instead. They'll threaten (and deliver) riots. Then we'll see a turning point.

  18. Why not? The left has a raft of terms for Trump and many of them get plastered into the forums. They range from cute and ineffective, like "Drumpf" to hideous, like "Baby Jailer" (still a lie from the left). And anyone who says anything positive about Trump is instantly labeled a "Con".

The language has always been the playpen of the left. The right generally capitulates because they don't care how people talk as long as they pay their taxes.

It still amazes me how many of you actually think picking a side is in your best interests. And how many will follow the left into any mess, as long as it "hurts" Trump. Meanwhile, he's chuckling at all of it and signing bills.

I see things ramping up though, so it's looking more and more like November is going to be very bad news for the left. I expect tantrums, screaming at the sky and assaulting red hats with bike locks. So classy.

My word for him is "murderer." His deliberate inaction, and that of his obedient cult, has killed a lot of Americans needlessly. Murderer.

There has been talk on Capitol Hill about yet another bailout; which unfortunately may be necessary.

After Three Coronavirus Stimulus Packages, Congress Already Prepping No. 4

In all honesty, I don't see another way. But in all honesty as well, do I really want so much government??

I think it will help, but I'm not sure how we will ever get it paid down. Because 1 Trillion is 1,000 Billion isn't it? which is 1,000 Million... So it's lots & lots & LOTS of money. I read Washington D.C. needs more money; though I wonder what for. The USPS (postal service) needs a bailout too; as apparently they are losing revenue during lock down like everybody else.

I guess what I'd really like is more taxes to be discussed first. Then, and only then, should we discuss more bailout. I don't know of another way to pay for it...
