I forget the names but there are two types of airborne transmissions when one sneezes or talks. One of them falls towards the ground rapidly while the other can be projected quite far and hover in the air. The former is the one the 6 ft rule is in place for.

Well, today was the first day I got on the main news site and most stories weren't about the virus

And I'm happy to report a lot of eastern Sydney at least has decided enough is enough, there are two, three times more cars on the road and people about as last week. Don't know whats exactly special about today, but cool

"Austria has lifted the strict quarantine on three ski resorts in Tyrol which were coronavirus hotspots.

The three include Ischgl, known as the "Ibiza of the Alps", where hundreds of tourists from across Europe are believed to have become infected."

Resort at heart of Europe’s outbreak reopens

One of my post on the FB was to send a bag of dicks from the dysfunctional veterans store to the pa health secretary.
Got a bunch of likes not sure how many people actually did it though..

We're up to 87 cases here in Graves county now. The latest cases to be disclosed were all female. Seems odd.

News this morning told me we (the UK) should expect "some form of social distancing" for the rest of the year. I don't know what that means, exactly, and I doubt the ones making the rules do yet either.

Damn we are not fairing very well here in Massachusetts with a total number of positive cases at 42,944 along with a death toll of 2,182.

Only three other states have a higher death toll and those are New York, Michigan, and Goddamn New Jersey.

The 2017-2018 flu season was historically severe. Public health officials estimate that 900,000 Americans were hospitalized and 80,000 died from the flu and its complications..
Worse than COVID-19? The Flu Killed 80,000 Americans Last Year
Dont remember not being able to go to a restaurant but maybe I got stoned and I missed it..

There's a vaccine and herd immunity against the flu. Society can deal far better with such an epidemic. This is a new virus. Precautions are partly taken because a lot of citizens don't have any defense against it. This means a significant amount of them needs intensive treatment when infected. More so than with the flu.

    From the article though,
2017 to 2018 was a bad year. I remember that year because a lot of kids in my state died from it and I was terrified my son was going to get it. My cousin's husband also ended up in the ICU for a month that year with severe flu complications.
The article says an average flu season kills 30k Americans a year, over the course of the season.
The thing has killed more people than that in a month, and thats with the shutdowns

Not trying to argue, just adding perspective

Yeah that was a particularly bad year.

But there was also151 million and 175 million doses of injectable vaccine, which was over 40% effective and saved countless lives.
