I think there may be a disconnect between what you experience, read in the news about the U.S., and what we're actually dealing with. I'm just saying that because to me and living here it feels like there's definite cause for concern, and that the re-closures are appropriate/warranted.

OK VG I'll take your word over that of Rachel Baker, an epidemiologist at Princeton University (One of the most prestigious universities
in the world) because the study hasn't been peer reviewed....lol...

I did explain what the graph means when you consider the background data. If you want your data to be credible you have to think WHY numbers are what they are not just what you want them to mean. Your own source also shows that cases again rise when lock downs end so you sort of agreed with my point of agreeing with science.

Republicans don't need to be convinced they had their chance. They like children sometimes need to be lead into having good hygiene and manners. Their elected officials one by one will have to follow medical advice. They will probably not win reelection. Texas didn't have much restriction. They hate Democrats unless it's Austin. Trucks, open carrying of guns, cheap American beer. You don't get more Republican voting than this. See where that thinking gets them.

Texas hospitals are running out of drugs, beds, ventilators and even staff

Cases of the new coronavirus have surged in Texas since Memorial Day weekend at the end of May, one month after Gov. Greg Abbott allowed a phased reopening of businesses. In June, Abbott scaled back parts of that plan, first pausing elective procedures in the state’s biggest cities in an attempt to conserve hospital capacity for COVID-19 patients, then ordering bars to close and capping restaurant occupancy at 50%.

Last week, he expanded the ban on elective procedures to more than 100 counties across broad swaths of the state, a sign of the increasing urgency of the virus’ toll on Texas hospitals. Then he warned that if the trend continues, he might order another economic lockdown.

    Facepalm

Somewhere in the US they are running out of ICU beds are they?

How many times have you heard that lie, and you are still falling for?

    Jesus Christ

Well if they are running out of ICU beds then then it's time to build a field hospital

Why are aren't they building field hospitals?

Because they are not running out of ICU beds, they just want free money thrown at them!

    Oh my god

We will need a full documented report that you personally checked every ICU in the country. We will need that report in triplicate and you better get busy, we need the report tomorrow morning at 6:00 EST.

They may have to do something drastic but you have to have all kinds of equipment and sterile procedures. It's not always that easy outside some hospital in Dallas. Texas is a large country on its own like California. They tend to vote in a lot of things for their residents over the state's requirement of safe. If they are over run it's a bad

You have no idea how the American medical system works if you think that and it's sad you would think doctors of all people would do that.

Money from who? Our vast healthcare budget? The insurance company who fights to get people out of the ER as cheaply as possible?

And where would the money be spent? Pocketed by doctors? Spent on drugs?

VG maybe all the head banging has cost you some brain cells.

    From your chart.
Phase 1 intensive care is full, no beds.
    Phase 2 intensive care 79%
    Phase 3 intensive care 61%

Doesn't matter how many are Covid patients.
This is for all hospitals in Texas, some may be at or over capacity, some under.

7/9/2020....Austin Convention Center being prepped as field hospital for coronavirus patients
    Austin is in Texas.

But you don't really have a point and you haven't read any of the other links I provided.
