Yeah, when did you get into hippy-dom and why. Please no "Its in your blood" stuff save that for the Goth and Punks :). I really wanna know what got you into it. Give us something worthwhile to talk about, stories and such. Just cause we ain't old dosen't mean we don't have stories :)

I used to have nothing to do... like I was just a person, but then I started listening to AC/DC (Back in Black) in 8th grade and from that day forward started buying oldies cd.s and now my life revolves around music. and i guess i "dress the part" (because it was comfortable and just woooa...) so people just started calling me a hippie. :)

I realised I was a hippie the day I killed a hippie, and ate his heart to acquire his power. [IMG]

um.. well i suppose i'm hippie-ish...somewhat.....mostly just strange.. i got into the whole thing when i was around....12-13, and most of my influence was from my dad who was an actually hippie in the sixties(lol hes 59) and he has always talked about it, and i was intrigued with hippies ever since i was maybe 8 or 9, but never took such a strong interest till two or three years ago.. i just really like the culture and lifestyle and as the good aspects of it, like the whole "peace/love" deal. lol.. and goddammit the look is pretty nifty too. :D

I started to go barefoot about eight years ago when I found a barefooters group on Usenet, alt.lifestyle.barefoot I'd never known anyone who went barefoot outside, nor do I recall ever seeing anyone barefoot apart from on the beach or in their own homes, but the minute I read it I knew I wanted to do that too. I don't even know why, it wasn't like I had painful feet or bunions or any shoe-related foot problems, although I never really liked tight clothing. I just thought "that is a great idea!"... and of course the barefoot thing is often associated with hippies... I also am pretty leftish on many issues (though not all) and I'd occasionally taken part in peace walks and such, but it's mostly just a comfort thing, no shoes, comfy clothing...

my hippy-dom came from a couple of sources> #1 my dad was hippie in the sixties. #2 i've always listened to hippie music. Hendrix, the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Phish, moe., etc... #3 prolly the greatest influence on my hippy-dom was my eighth grade english teacher Mrs. Augenblick, or as me and my hippie friends called her "Augie" (just happens to be one of the hippie names on hippy.com). she was really into music and poetry and art and stuff. she definitely was a hippie in the sixties, and her philosophical standpoints really rubbed off on me and my friends. she once had us anylize the lyrics to "Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel in class.

    Peace and Love

i dont know...i think that the part of me that is a hippie just grew into me. I think i have always had the hippie ideology, the peace and love part at least. Plus i sort of look like one...but i prefer to refer to myself as a one of a kind person.
