It's just a form of mass compartmentalization

Concepts such as good vs evil, black vs white, centring on these three individuals so far (Floyd, Brooks, Blake) are a lot more easier to process than the more complicated parts of 2020; Covid and the restrictions; how easily and quickly everyone was so ready to submit to authority, a far less clearer view of the future

All these protests mainly involving the young as you will notice; therefore a kind of regression as well

Compartmentalization being a more specific form of dissociation. So dissociation and regression

That is, you all don't care as much as you think you do about this issue, it's just a way of not having to deal with more complicated unrelated stuff that's personally scarier to you

I think it's beyond an issue with race, honestly. I feel it's behavioral on the part of the police. The academy, the sheriff, the attitude... That's where I see a problem. They need the academy to teach a different ethic and standard especially; the old standard is a reject. They need to reform the attitudes. They need to adjust the version of authority - they should represent a keeper of the peace, and of the law, not something punitive, and not something authoritative. If they can convey the attitude that they're just the messenger, like a postal clerk, or a meter attendant, they will earn more respect from these "flagrant communities" or however they're being referred to.

Communities of color - Latino, Black, Chinese, or anyone who is an out-group, non-white people - have long had issues with law enforcement. How do we enforce? Through embarrassment? Some elitist white-boy racist talking down? I think that's gonna be bad publicity if I'm honest. They don't need to do that...

And so to address the long-standing issue, do we continue to try and railroad the people into submission, or... ? Something else. Offer alternatives. You follow the law or you pay the consequences. That seems simple enough. Let's be clear about what the consequences are. Is one of them getting shot? It ought not be. And many places it isn't. But here we're armed.

Maybe they could talk about better tazers that wouldn't have officers reaching for their lethal force to save their hides.

Sooo, someone has a gun, and you fire a taser? Lol. Like this guy who had a weapon. Now it turns out that George Floyd overdosed, and took a pill while the cops came... he made a choice to do this an$ apparently he dropped a bag of some drug too.

not saying that the cop who was on him was in the right, but not in the wrong either. He was following procedure, it was legal.

I'm a little confused by this, as I am a tennis fan, usually at least watch the grand slams, and thus kind of an Osaka fan

But this just reeks of grand standing

She is ranked no. 10 at the moment

‘Fiery but mostly peaceful’: CNN torn apart over ‘embarrassing’ caption

CNN is getting roasted for describing protests in the US state of Wisconsin as “fiery but mostly peaceful” during a live broadcast – while a building behind the reporter was engulfed in flames.

The words: “Fiery but mostly peaceful protests after police shooting,” appeared on screen as CNN reporter Omar Jimenez delivered a live report in Kenosha.

“What you’re seeing behind me is one of multiple locations that have been burning in Kenosha, Wisconsin, over the course of the night,” Mr Jimenez said, with a gas mask around his neck.

Fine you’re not a big fan of the NBA, how about MLB, Major league Soccer, or the National hockey League., And if the NFL season had started,
they to would also figure in the mix with Colin Kaepernick leading the charge (despite the fact that he's not currently active)

Mets, Marlins make a statement as 7 MLB games postponed over racial injustice

The New York Mets and Miami Marlins made sure their point was clear Thursday as seven Major League Baseball games were postponed in protest of racial injustice.

One day after player protests brought NBA playoff games to a temporary halt -- a demonstration that spilled over to the WNBA, Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball and, on Thursday, the National Hockey League
-- seven MLB games were postponed as players from the teams involved opted not to play in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.

The key word being 'Ex- San Francisco Giant' because if he was currently active, he soon wouldn’t be....lol...

btw If he thought he ever had any chance of being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, I suspect he would have kept his mouth shut.

Seems the kind of thing that will financially hurt those sports themselves and the players more than anyone else though

The fact women are boycotting in defense of a rapist is crazy to me. Not that it's much better that men are.

    They’re protesting racial injustice.

Sure he’s not the perfect choice of victims, it would be great if he had a clean record. But sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

You seem to be a bit confused.

This story is about a white police officer who attempted to murder a black suspect because he resisted arrest.

In some jurisdictions jaywalking is an arrestable offence, driving without a license is an arrestable offence, carrying any amount of marijuana in Texas is an arrestable offence,
Are you suggesting the penalty for resisting is death?

    Osaka has flip flopped

"But later Thursday, Osaka told the Guardian newspaper in a statement she would return to the event on Friday to take on Elise Mertens in the semfinals.
"I was (and am) ready and prepared to concede the match to my opponent," said Osaka.
"However, after my announcement and lengthy consultation with the WTA and USTA, I have agreed at their request to play on Friday. They offered to postpone all matches until Friday and in my mind that brings more attention to the movement. I want to thank the WTA and the Tournament for their support."
