If that's me you're referring to, no way! Well, let's start with the convention this week. He picked a convention site on government property across the street from his hotel and jacked up the prices. Here’s how Trump is using the GOP convention to line his family’s pockets Then there are the other emoluments clause violations. Ok. Most people know by now that trump is a malignant narcissist. We've seen how he and his sycophants flaunt the laws of this nation. Subpoenas can now be ignored. Any reckoning due for lawless miscreants is now moot.Day after day something new comes out that concerns the tearing down of ANY and ALL precedent. However-----IMO, it's now time to call out the national guard in all states to clear these people off the streets and stop the god damn mayhem. The right --wing extremists have been agitating for violence for years, so I imagine that they are a big part of the rioting. The left-wing started to protest over many black being unnecessarily being shot and/or mistreated, but I dare say legitimate left-wing protestors are not taking part in the destruction. Mom, pop and the kiddies have gone home. The ones left on the streets--are stupid and are helping trump be put right back in the white house. Or is that the plan? The only ones now on the streets now are those that are having a "fun" time tearing and burning shit up and are simply agents of chaos. That this is happening under trump is not too surprising--nor is anything else under this administration. Given the time elapsed from the riots of the 70s and the ones after that that tore cities up , with virtually nothing done to address the continual police violence against the blacks and browns--it was due. But enough is enough!!
so there is something wrong with holding an event at the dc convention center, and there is something wrong with having a hotel across from it? A hotel that he has had there long before taking office and over 200 million was spent to restore. Shrug*. Do you really care? Is there a rule against holding it there? why is this an issue when this auditorium is available for use by the public? And I don’t see anything about jacked up prices, they were always jacked up. Hotels usually jack up prices certain times of year as that is when they make their money for the entire year. Hotel rooms are more expensive on weekends too another thing. . Pretty sure he said he might, might do it from the lawn as well, I heard, which is legal. But what he said was not absolute either, He would not be the first to do it either. In 1940 FDR did it. as for foreign Emoluments,,,I don’t get it, all gifts were turned over to the national archives. He never received any foreign titles either. It is only theft if you keep them, like Hilary and bill tried to do when they left. Can you please explain the issue? but this is way off topic. Vlad keeps doing this. It is Portland riots section. Vlad is a troll, making every topic about politics. Perhaps we could take this to the political section. he wants to direct anything negative about the riots and democrats to his agenda and political views.
Yes there is something wrong with holding a partisan political convention in the federally owned Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, thereby politicizing what should be neutral ground owned by the taxpayers. FDR broadcast his 1940 speech via radio. He actually missed the nominating convention and delivered the acceptance remotely. It's not so much a matter of law as a matter of propriety. Picking a venue across the street from a Trump-owned hotel raises ethical concerns about conflict of interest and emoluments clause violations, especially when he jacks up the price for a room. It's something no other President would think of doing, and it stinks to high heaven! Trump’s convention blurs official business and politics | WTOP No they weren't. The hotel did it recently before the convention. The very fact that he owns hotels is an obvious conflict of interest, and something no other president has done or would do. Foreign dignitaries know they can curry favor with the Prez by staying at his hotels--the very essence of what the emoluments clause is intended to prohibit. Those proceeds have never been turned over to the national archives.
About a dozen demonstrators gathered in the lobby of Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s Pearl District condominium Friday night, and said they would stay there until Wheeler listened to a list of demands to address police violence and systemic racism. At least 150 more gathered on the street outside, listening to speeches and music performances. The protesters’ demands for Wheeler, laid out in a letter posted in the lobby, include reducing the Portland Police Bureau budget, pledging never to vote for another police budget increase, and Wheeler resigning as mayor and police commissioner. Three of the protesters sat down on the lobby floor, linking their arms together with tubes. Several other protesters stood around them. At least one security guard was present in the lobby. Wheeler’s office did not immediately respond to requests about whether the mayor was home, and whether he planned to address the protesters. It's partly about partisan politics. As long as Trump is depending on this as the showcase for his "law and order" campaign, it will continue. Since the various groups rioting have different, often conflicting, agendas, it would be hard to say what it's about. Some may still be carrying the torch for black lives mattering, although outsiders might think they must have made their point by now. The anarchists are typically out to cause chaos to bring about the collapse of government, and there are plenty of those in the Seattle/Portland area. Then there are the false flaggers and right wing groups like Boogaloo, Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer coming in to mix it up on behalf of Trump. The presence of a lumpenproletariat of homeless people and underemployed youth makes it easy to fuel the fire. Wave some money at them, and you'll have a following. And riots are exciting. How they get out of this, if they do, is anybody's guess, but eventually they'll get tired and bored. This will be fertile ground for future Ph.D. dissertations.
Portland suspect shot dead by police during arrest Police in the US have shot dead a man suspected of fatally shooting a right-wing activist during protests in Portland, Oregon, officials say. Michael Reinoehl, 48, was being investigated for the killing of a supporter of President Trump during last weekend's tension. Reinoehl earlier said he acted in self-defence when he shot Aaron Danielson, a supporter of the Patriot Prayer group. Police said he was armed and was shot during a confrontation with officers. Black Lives Matter protests have been taking place nightly in Portland since the killing of black man George Floyd in May. Portland suspect shot dead by police during arrest
If someone on either/any side of any issue shoots someone for "thinking differently," whether it be politics, religion, sports or whatever--it's wrong. I disagree vehemently with the right--BUT--the man got what he deserved according to the story. Let's get back to the discussion of issues, not murdering and slandering each other. It would be nice if our politicians would knock off the bullshit and quit stirring the weak minded up into frenzied states of mind.
