i really like the style of this skirt, but i'm not quite sure how to go about making the rainbow-type stripes. any ideas? i was thinking maybe a rotary cutter and a cardboard template would be the way to go. bleh, i should just go try it out and see what happens! LOL. i scored a bunch of really funky almost free fabric last summer and i havent really done much with it yet.
very simple. i would suggest getting a pattern though. its just a matter of cutting out the fabric and sewing it together to look like that...its real easy i wish i could explain it....but i think it would be easier to show u... sorry..
is there a pattern that you would reccommend? it looks like it would be easy enough to freestyle it, but if there's a pattern that you know of...
you could probably try to freestyle it but if your looking for a patter i would suggest mccalls or buttericks....maybe youll get lucky and it will be 99 cent pattern day at jo-anna!
hm, i just checked thru mccalls, buttericks and vogue patterns online and there's nothing resembling the stripes on this skirt. <shrug> i guess i could ask at the fabric store, but i think i'm gonna have to freestyle it. the assymetrical slightly gored a-line with a drawstring is pretty easy to figure out, i just dont want to mess up the stripes. maybe i'll have a look at some quilting sites and see how they do curved lines to get them to lie flat. i just have a feeling that if i totally wing it, i'll end up with some weirdy bulgy lines.
hm... gotta love google... http://quilting.about.com/library/weekly/aa000615.htm sortof what i need, i think, but it cautions agains using too steep of a curve. i still need input on this.
