Okay, so I'm not genius, and I'm not saying I have the solution to the problem of getting drugs past dogs, but I think I might be onto something here, and perhaps you guys could help me out a little... I'll probably post something along these same lines in the drug chemistry forum so those scientifically minded folk can let me know if this might work... Here goes....

So let's say that someone has a large quantity of a certain drug, let's use pot for example... Now, I've heard stories about how a dog can lose it's trail due to an animal or person going through a body of water, like a lake or a pond. There are numerous tales of slaves wading in rivers and streams to escape hounds, and prisoners also do the same thing and it seems to typically work pretty well. (the old song "Wade in the Water" talks about that some). Now then, people have certain oils and such on their skin that float to the surface of the water, but if it's cool water, then sometimes it seems that dogs have a hard time smelling the oils and therefore they lose the person or animal that they're going after. How many of us have farted on a cold day and noticed a substantial difference in the amount of odor put out than if we farted on a warm day... there just seems to be a difference. So let's take these two concepts and apply them to getting drugs past drug-sniffing dogs:

My theory, and this is simply a theory, is that if someone was to take an amount of a certain substance, and then put that substance in a plastic, water-tight bag, and then freeze the bag so that the substance was completely surrounded by oh... let's say three to four inches of solid ice on all sides and at every angle, then perhaps the gases that carry the odor of the chemicals would be held in and condenced by the ice, therefore trapping them and making it impossible for the dog to detect them. As long as the person has not handled the block of ice, nor the substance with his/her bare hands, and they change gloves between handling the substance, and then the ice, then there should be no oily residue of the substance left on the person, nor the ice... All in all... it would create an unpenetrable brick of ice that should have enough time to last several hours in a standard cooler in someone's car as long as other ice is heaped on top... i would be impressed to see a dog sniff through that!

I don't know if that would actually work, but it's just a theory on how to get by... your thoughts?

My thoughts? Makes at least a fair amount of sense.

*claps* Bravo! If I ever have to smuggle drugs past some dogs, I'll use your technique. Not that I'm planning anything ... Haha.

i also wonder if there's a difference among the different scents that different varieties of substances put out... like say the difference between nugs and shwag.... Can dogs that are trained on shwag also be used to sniff high quality nugs?

well, its not like theyre a diferent plant, though i cam imagine exotic smelling varieties could be harder to detect, although most nice smelling varieties are also strong smellling varieties so the advantage probably ends up being vcancelled out

Lol, I think Raving Sultan was being sarcastic, hehe.

I wonder if a drug dog would easily be able to detect a strain of true/pure blueberry nug, since it is supposed to smell like blueberry and not like cannabis. =)

I think that is a good idea too.
Here's another one, a business opportunity as well. Get a dog with the same traits that they use for narcotics dogs, i.e. wirery, etc. Somehow obtain a manual on how to train dogs for this purpose, or just use basic Pavlovian theory. Once you've trained your dog, use him/her to test yours and others ice packed goods for a price.

EXACTLY!!! Just imagine going out of the country, spending $2k in some thirdworld country for a few things, and then having the security and confidence to bring some back and have a lifetime supply of whatever kinda psychedelicious combos you decide to make while out of the pig capital o' the globe. We're talking a personal, lifetime supply of whatever might keep, and the rest is for sharing.

When a Drug Dog indentifies drugs, he is NOT going on the same smell you and I are. Dogs not only have a sense of smell up to 2,000 times stronger than humans, they can detect minute presences of chemicals that we are not aware of. Marijuana has over 500 different chemical constituents in it. Just some pot which smells like a blueberry to a human will not throw off a Drug Dog, as HIS experience of the smell is VERY different than ours.

One of the funniest things I have ever read was when Ellis D Tripp talked about somebody taking bong water in a spray bottle and spraying it all over a school, the walls and the floors ect, the day some Drug Dogs were going to brought in. The dogs went insane barking at marijuana chemicals........LOL. It didn't hurt the dogs at all, and it was funny.

Now that's an awesome idea... Next time you're coming back from Amsterdam, put some bong water in a spray bottle and hit up every piece of luggage you can. That'll keep the boys in blue busy while you cling to that ounce in your crotch for dear life! There's just something wrong about putting an 18 yr old in jail for smoking some pot when that same kid has to sign up to wave a flag and hold a gun whenever the country feels it's necessary... especially in this day and age, and also in years before now! Bush owes us pot man... he fucking owes us! :)

yes i think the bongwater spray idea would be very good indeed. you coupld spray it on everyoen leaving the plane.

though im imagining scenes of the police then putting everyone in quarantine and you eventually getting locked up, along with having your day wasted.

still, they could attribute it to something in the airconditioning system or some wierd shit and get lazy and llet you go w00t

remember too that there are video cameras all over the airports. You don't think people will notice that you a spraying shit all over the bags? Where and when are you going to do it without being noticed? Moreover, if you pull it off, when the dogs go crazy and can't do their job normally, don't you think that would be a signal to the cops that something is a miss?
If they haven't caught you spraying stuff the first time around, when they review the tapes, they will, and then guess whose bags they are going to check?

hmmmph... i think you all underestimate the powers of simple disguise... all you need is a way to spray it without looking like you sprayed it.... there's all kinds of ways to rig a completely plastic device that will allow you to do that. Come on yall, where's the sense of ingenuity? Let's just say that I doubt I would ever try that, but I would be curious to see what happened to someone who did... especially if this person went apeshit and sprayed little drops all over the airport! It would be something like the Thomas Crown Afair... criminals could be everywhere... If I were the culprit tho, I would totally spray up some old cranky ladies and old men.... That would be hilarious! :)
