My reply: Egads! I've confused one poster with another. Thanks for the correction, stormountainman. I'd like to see where it says that. Having read it and never found it in ANY amendment, I'll stick to the founders' original intent. And this republic was created by religious men.... Christians, to be specific. They said in their own writings that it was done so we could enjoy our God-given liberty to worship according to the dictates of our own conscience, free from the abuses of king and pope. Y'all are still free to think and say what you want. Enjoy our freedom of speech, expression, and religions....while we still have them.
Not much useful, anyway. I learned about this by actually reading the Constitution and The Federalist Papers, as well as the bible. Most of what was in these writings contradicted what little pablum I was taught in public schools. Other stuff was useless or irrelevant, at best. I hear it's much worse today. A couple examples come to mind: History Class; Paul Revere's ride: The British are coming! The British are coming! <me, in response to this revelation> So what were they coming for? <teacher, annoyed> Shut up. I don't know. Nobody knows. It's irrelevant. Science & Biology Class; evolution vs physics: <me> If the 2nd law of thermodynamics determines that all things go from the complex state to the simple; from the organized to the disorganized, why does evolution require the opposite? How can that work? <teacher> SHUT UP AND GET OUT OF MY CLASS!! While we did see a small copy of the Declaration of Independence, and were briefly exposed to our Constitution, we clearly were not TAUGHT anything useful about either. That would require me to later get copies of both, which I have still, just to study them. The guys who wrote these documents were quite revealing, as opposed to modern teachers and reporters, who alike seem ignorant at best, or hostile at worst, to either. Same with the bible. The Tenth Amendment Center is right, and it remains one of the best sources of truthful information regarding these topics here in the USA, in spite of what our modern hostile academia says. But I digress....DO TELL me what YOUR definition of "civics" is all about...?
One of my definitions concerning civics is determining if I want to believe a man who has told well over 20,000 lies to the world. Almost made up my mind. Still thinkin' about it.
What's there to think about - the bastard has lied and lied and lied 20.000 times and you're still not sure whether you want to vote for him ???
