Bill Barr to Trump's rescue again.

Barr tells federal prosecutors to look into unsupported allegations of voting irregularities - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Barr told prosecutors in his Monday memo: "I authorize you to pursue substantial allegations of voting and vote tabulation irregularities prior to the certification of elections in your jurisdictions in certain cases, as I have already done in specific instances."

"While serious allegations of voter fraud should be handled with great care, specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims should not be a basis for initiating federal inquiries," Barr wrote.

Barr has been described by some Justice officials as obsessed with the idea of voter fraud in recent weeks. He has repeatedly inquired about efforts by prosecutors to look for signs of fraud, Justice officials say. He also asked about the possibility of sending federal officers to polling stations, though he was advised that federal law prohibited sending armed federal officers to guard the polls."

I don't want to be alarmist but the language coming from Trump and McConnell sounds like an attempted coup.

Even if Trump flips PA, which is unlikely, Biden still wins with 270 electoral votes (without winning the 16 electoral votes of Georgia which he is currently projected to win).

The one extra electoral vote that Biden picked up in Maine turned out to be critical.

McConnell met with Barr on Monday, as did Trump. McConnell wouldn't say what he discussed with Barr.

It gives the impression that the three of them together are plotting a scheme to take the election away from Biden.

Trump’s Legal Blitz Isn’t Contesting Enough Votes to Win

    excerpt:

"Even if Trump were to somehow wrest away Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes through the courts, Biden would still have enough other states to clinch victory, according to the Associated Press. And Biden is also still leading in Georgia, which could gain him another 16 electoral votes.

“The prospects that a legal challenge in court could reverse the outcome in a way that would produce a Trump victory get harder and harder if it’s not just one state that he has to flip,” said Steven Huefner, deputy director of an election-law program at Ohio State University. “A challenge in a single state is a long shot. Then he’s got three long shots, or something, that he has to make all in succession.”"

Trump has an uphill battle of trying to flip 3 states (including PA) or 4 states (including WI if he doesn't flip PA or MI).

Without the 20 electoral votes of PA, Trump could attempt a win by using recounts and court cases to overturn WI, GA, AZ, and NV.

The first step to civil war, and I am not sure that the military would support the administration.

Pilger resigned shortly after Barr issued his memo.

Barr has made it easier for investigations to be conducted about voter fraud both before and shortly after the 2020 election.

Barr has made himself directly available for such investigations instead of career prosecutors.

DOJ's Election Crimes Director Resigns After Barr Authorizes Election Fraud Investigation

DOJ's election crimes director resigns after Barr authorizes election fraud investigation

    excerpts:

"Richard Pilger, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Director of the Election Crimes Branch, has resigned following Attorney General William Barr's authorization earlier today for federal prosecutors to investigate allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Pilger, whose office oversees investigations into voter fraud, reportedly tendered his resignation within hours of Barr's authorization, The New York Times reported."

"Last month, Barr lifted a DOJ prohibition on election fraud investigations occurring in the months before a national election, making it so that prosecutors could request permission to investigate directly from Barr instead of from a career prosecutor in the DOJ's Criminal Division."

Trump managing to flip one state that is currently projected for Biden to win would give him a pacifier as a loser. He could use it to claim he was right all along about his claimed fraud in all the states that he lost but just didn't have enough funds and time to win back the rest of the states that he says were stolen from him.

Ronald Sanders resigned in late October.

Trump appointee resigns as a 'matter of conscience' over order aimed at civil service - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"A Trump appointee tasked with advising the administration on federal civil servants' pay has resigned over his objections to a new executive order that appears to provide the President more leeway in the hiring and firing of federal employees deemed disloyal.

Ronald Sanders, who served as a member and chair of the Federal Salary Council, tendered his resignation on Monday to the director of White House Presidential Personnel, John McEntee, according to a letter obtained by CNN.

"On its surface, the President's Executive Order purports to serve a legitimate and laudable purpose ... that is, to hold career Federal employees 'more accountable' for their performance," Sanders wrote. "However, it is clear that its stated purpose notwithstanding, the Executive Order is nothing more than a smokescreen for what is clearly an attempt to require the political loyalty of those who advise the President, or failing that, to enable their removal with little if any due process.""

When Trump was running his business empire his only leverage he had over people was the "lawsuit"... Now that he's president, his only form of leverage is the "lawsuit".

This is not how our country is supposed to function.

During my entire life I have heard Republicans say, "It's bad to file lawsuits." And they told me people who file cases in court were stealing from honest folks. They always said, "People who file discrimination cases and Worker Comp cases were just stealing from us who come by it honest." Many Republicans point to Biblical passages and tell me, "It's just not the Christian thing to do." Funny now that their hero is doing exactly the contrary of that which they preach.

'There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,' Pompeo claims
Pompeo said it was “ridiculous” to think Trump’s refusal to admit defeat undermines U.S. efforts to promote free elections abroad.
By Dan De Luce and Abigail Williams

“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration”: Pompeo

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at a press conference Tuesday there would be a smooth transition to "a second Trump administration" and made no reference to handing over power to President-elect Joe Biden.

Pompeo also said it was "ridiculous" to suggest President Donald Trump's refusal to concede defeat in last week's election could undermine U.S. efforts to promote free elections and peaceful transfers of power overseas.

Asked by Fox News correspondent Rich Edison if the administration was working with Biden's team on a presidential transition, Pompeo said with a smile, "There will be a smooth transmission to a second Trump administration."

Then he added, "We're ready. The world is watching what's taking place. We're going to count all the votes. There is a process.""
