Hey everyone! I'm new here and I'm new to dreading. I just did mine a few days ago. I'm doing it partially because I love them and partially for ease. I'm a SAHM with a son who just turned 4 and I'm about to have another one (she's due in 2 weeks). We live in San Diego with my husband who is in the Navy. Anyways, I LOVE them so far. I just wish they weren't so fuzzy. Seriously, it's like attack of the killer frizz over here. ROFL I had made the mistake of putting styling wax on them to make them look a little neater. OMG that was a big mistake! I wound up washing it out yesterday and spent yesterday and today trying to fix the dreads that fell out. The styling wax (which wasn't really a wax) somehow had a conditioning effect (one of the reasons I washed it out) and my dreads seriously loosened up. I'm glad I used rubber bands so I didn't have to re-separate them. I know, a lot of people are against bands. But, I like how they look. Plus, they are helping to keep some of the more stubburn dreads together. I haven't decided if I'm going to remove them once the dreads lock or if I'll just let them get swallowed. lol Oh, and something really cute. When I was doing them my son asked if I can do his hair like that too. lol I told him that if he wants them in a few years I'll do them (his hair is long enough but it's very fine and he's really active and loves to play in dirt). *waves* Jessie A pic of me that I took last night w/cam: And here's one of my son (his hair is longer now):
Oh, and before I forget...how do you get your avatar to be a pic? Do you have to be a sponser or something?
Thank u for the comment about my childern... and yes, I'm pretty sure you have to be a hipforums supporter for a custom avatar though I could be wrong...
I'm a dreaded SAHM too! I have a 9 year old daughter and we homeschool. My daughter has a different response to dreads than your son. Anytime she doesn't brush her hair I ask her " Do you want dreads then?" It never fails to send her running for the hair brush.
Thanks for the welcomes I homeschool too! We're doing preschool right now. We have a blast with it.My son is 4 so he's still at that "I want to do what Mommy and Daddy do" phase. lol For all I know, in a year or two he'll start to think I'm weird. lol *hugglies* Jessie
