Are you talking about jobs in Turkey? I imagine the work situation there is very different from the one in my country, the United States, so I'd hesitate to offer advice. But if you're talking about Burger King, I wonder if you are in the U.S. Over here, 30 isn't that old, you have some work experience, and a college degree is worth something, depending on what it's in. I don't quite understand how you're using the term "institutional jobs". Does this mean government and corporations? What would be a non-institutional job? To me, referring to Burger King as "institutional" is unusual.
Institutional jobs are companies. Burger King is more than just an institutinal job. It is an international company all over the world. What is more institutinal than Burger King or McDonalds? Even the Burger King in Turkey is part of the Burger King in the USA. There is a cafe called ''Edo'' near my home. That belongs to a man and there isn't even a second Edo. So it is quite opposite of Burger King. There isn't even a garantee that this man will pay your money. He won't even make your insurance. How about Burger King? It is an instituninal job, unlike that cafe. Am I clear? In jobs, which are not institutional, they don't even pay your money. You work for free like an idiot. You just depend on the pleasure of the boss. Since your insurance won't be made, you are officially not working when you are working. This does not happen in Instutinal jobs (Burger King is instituninal).
The type of communism you are talking about is probably more like American crapitalism (socialism for the state and rich, capitalism for the peasants.)
Sounds like minimum wage "MacJobs" to me, part of capitalism. Like certain Mr. Trump, who got rich selling bullshit? Also happened in capitalism. I won't say much more, because I'm not looking to derail this thread, but if you hate socialism, you can do much to diminish its appeal: Fix capitalism. Vote for policies that improve workers' rights, pay, and benefits in all trades. Tax the rich progressively and use the money on extensive welfare programs and public services, especially the ones that aim to help the sick and unemployed. Help build a world where being born disabled or underprivileged, or losing your job doesn't fuck you over, and you'll soon observe how people no longer dream about "teh evilz of socializm". Sound good? And Cuba would've done just fine if it weren't for half a century's worth of petty trade embargoes kept in place out of sheer spite. I mean, as it stands, their literacy rate is higher than America's, FFS. How's that for sad?
Ummm It's about whether you have a choice or not. That's freedom when you can choose. It's communism when the choice is made for you. Outcome ... You want a system where it's up to you, or you want a system where you don't have to make a choice and thus don't have to take responsibility for your choices? Also, if you've been to Cuba, opine. If you haven't, then at least quote someone who has.
true communism is each according to their own ability, each according to own need. Almost the same as true capitalism. based communism is like mlp cutie mark society, modern communism has become more like cutie map communism, starlight glimmer communism of equality. america is like a crapatalism of like flim and flam society.
"Ability" as in what one is willing to do under the circumstances. And "need" in one scenario is defined by the leaders one must serve, while in the other it's self-defined. But as long as one doesn't think about it, the system where one obeys without thinking sounds idyllic!
What choice would that be? I want a system, where circumstances outside my control won't cripple me for life, because somebody decides to tell me it was my own fault for supposedly "being lazy" and "not trying hard enough". I want a system that doesn't punish people for shit hitting the fan. RE: Cuba Well I'm sure that you remember how D. Trump started cancelling Barack Obama's efforts to ease the restrictions against Cuba? I have it on many news sources that Cuba was ready to make some reforms and open up its markets more after Raúl Castro assumed power. Then Trump shot that down. It's gonna be interesting to see what Biden will do. But the point is, they would've probably opened up to the world more years earlier, had the USA not harassed them so much. That would've meant more foreign capital, which could've made them very successful. Who knows, we never had a chance to see. Yes yes yes, I'm aware of the human rights abuses. Maybe that's why your country chooses to operate Gitmo there. Birds of a feather. And consider this: Cuba's communist party has been compared to China's communist party. Yet you trade with the Chinese (even gave them your jobs), but not with the Cubans, although the Chinese do even more horrifying shit to their people. So what gives? At least in Cuba's case, lifting the sanctions could actually help. Doing so would remove a major excuse that the Cuban communist party is using to justify its actions.
I like the direction BO started with Cuba. That's what allowed me to travel there hassle free. Not continuing to seek improved diplomatic relations with them was a failure on Trump's part imo. It's time to let bygones be bygones. Cuba is wide open for tourism on their part. Except for this recent pandemic, people have been pouring through regardless of whether us citizens are restricted by the US govt. They're not punishing Cuba as much as they are us. But tourist money is about the only thing Cuba has going for it. They're not manufacturing any goods to export. They are physically in a good position to be a US ally. Maybe even protectorate. Or territory. I think we should probably just annex the island. That would be easy, and we could skyrocket the average standard of living there in fairly short order. It would be amazing to see it beatified to it's 1950s state of repair. You're absolutely right about China though. That's one DT was heading in the right direction. Yes, it will be curious to see what "China Joe" does with respect to both those countries. What circumstances beyond your control would cripple you for life? Someone crashing into you with their car. Would banning motor vehicles prevent that?
Among other things. Or, a mother's poor choice with her alcohol use could result in her child having FAS. These are just a couple of examples where the victim had no choice whatsoever, and therefore couldn't "take responsibility" for his/hers choices, which were nonexistent to begin with. This is why we need social safety nets. A civilized society takes care of its own, and doesn't denigrate people, who were given a tax funded disability pension so that they might survive after they had no choice. It's not communism, nor laziness and work-dodging from the part of the recipient. It's simply doing the right thing. And for it to work, everybody must chip in, a.k.a taxes. So, what choice does the existence of an extensive welfare system rob from you?
No, I agree, that's doing the right thing and taking care of our own. Which of course isn't nearly the same as the guy who skipped school, didn't do his homework, played video games, took drugs, crashed the family car, got a girl pregnant, got caught robbing, etc etc -- to then claim that the system is at fault and he needs to be taken care of. Last I heard the biggest expense segment of our govt is social welfare programs. Recipients include those from both categories just described.
