I lived in West Virginia for a little over a year and then right next to it in Maryland for 9 months, about a half hour from sunshine daydream.

Now it is rather pretty, though in my opinion far from as pretty as Vermont, upstate New York or western North Carolina.

I would never live there again. From my experience, the stereotypes are pretty dead on about West Virginia. Lot of cousin lovin' going on there

Me and my old girlfriend got absolutely stared out of pizza hut once by the new river....these burly huge guys sat on the same side of a booth staring right at us for about 20 minutes not talking, then stared at us through the window as we left...

I would not want to live there, but it is very pretty and definitely uncharted

wow. i live in west virginia and i'm surprised yet delighted to actually hear people saying they wish they were hear and that they love it, i am always hearing negative things about how we are hicks and inbread, and it reallly bugs me. Im from morgantown and its a college city in the mountains so its a bit different than scenic WV, but i have been all over and even in the littlest town made of a farm and little convenience store, i still dont understand the whole hick thing. people are really nice, and you have the occasional redneck but thats almost anywhere you go. honestly i have encountered much worse in parts of ohio(not bashing ohio just what i have seen).. anyway sorry for the rambling i am just excited to hear good things about us!

Morgantown is alright...and there are definitely friendly people there...its just creepy for people (like myself) who come from "charted" areas, then make a wrong turn and end up way isolated....once I had to turn around in this horrifying tattoo parlor/porn shop with about 25 people hanging out in front.

Ithink its one of the best places to take pictures and I'll take appalaichia anyday over "the south"

hahaha... I like the Appalachians a lot... though, eastern North Carolina has always been moreso home to me than Eastern Virginia... and Western VA is way better than Eastern Virginia.... :p Unfortunately, Grand Forks, North Dakota is as flat as a hat  I still think NC is the prettiest state as for the east coast... but I do like a lot of the Gullah Culture and the pee dee region of South Carolina... Brunswick area of Georgia.. and Savannah. It's really nice around there, minus the touristy shopping stuff... I like the historical things and plantations. I think Boone Hall, outside of Charleston, is one of the prettiest... they have the best gardens and trees... the river and scenery.
