So, I've found that, among Vegans and others who refuse dairy products (or just milk) for other reasons, Silk is the mot common brand of soymilk.

Now, awhile ago I found that Silk is owned by WhiteWave Inc. They're pretty good, their supposed wave of white being one of Soy.

However, WhiteWave Inc. is owned by Dean Foods, one of the biggest Dairy & other Animal Agriculture product distributors in the U.S.

I have a problem with that, and so I don't buy Silk, or other WhiteWave products anymore.

I've had several discussions with other Vegans on the topic, with varying results.

The opposing argument from my fellow vegans seems to be that if we support non-dairy products from the AA corporations, that they will put more effort into those, and possibly less into AA products.

However, my view is that they will still use your money to finance AA, thereby negating the effect of your buying non-dairy. I'd rather support the full non-aa companies.

So, what's your take on the matter? Not just Silk, but in all non-aa products from Animal Agriculture companies?

Well, I continue to buy Silk, though I also buy other brands of soymilk (like EdenSoy, and occasionally Tofutti ice cream, yum! =P).

I didn't know Silk was owned as it is, but ... really, is there a point to boycotting it? It's not going to change; the bad things are still going to be funded whether we like it or not; and the higher demand for Silk, the more money they have to put into it; that's how I see it. The company won't go out of business if people stop drinking Silk, so there is no point in trying to shut it down, we're only screwing ourselves in the end.

I bought WW when it was a Boulder company.
I don't think it is the best product on the market, but in a pinch will do fine.
It has to be your call to support or not a company, but do all the research. What else is owned my whom-else?

I really dobut that a boycot of Dean Foods and silk soymilk would do any good. Although it can be argued that lots of the demand for soymilk is from the animal rights crowd, only a small percentage is extreme enough to boycott them so I don't think they would care at all.
