I have noticed that the euro has rissen above the U.S. doller. So I am wondering about the buying power of the euro once I get to amsterdam. As of right now one doller = .788 euros. Now how far can a euro go? Here in the slavery states of america I can buy a pack of smokes for like $5.48. Is it like 3.50 euros or something of that nature? Any body have any info like this. I just really want to know the differances in worth. I am just seeing if the same amount of euros can pretty much get you the same amount of stuff in the states with US money....yea woohooooooo and shit
You are not getting a good deal according to my calculations and it appears to be getting worse, that's the general trend so far.
That and cost of smokes in general can be very different from place to place. Hell, even from state to state. It's cheaper for me to buy a decent beer than a cheap whiskey here, but while in Ireland, it seemed cheaper to get the whiskey than the beer. Just an example of the value differences.
Some people I know from the UK buy 'rolling backy' in duty free as it's loads cheaper. Return home and sell it with a small profit but still undercutting shop prices and inturn pays for their airfair regardless if they smoke or not. Not a bad idea in all.
Well I wasnt completely asking about cigs, that was more of an example. But it would appear that I was correct that the euro is above the dollar. And from the looks of things, the dollar will keep sinking.
Once my credit card is paid off (again), I plan on using $100 from each paycheck and converting it to the Euro. I figure I'd have more money than if I'd exchange it right before my trip.
I was in the Netherlands in Nov. Cigs are about 5.20 USD. Also all the hotel room are more expensive. I turned in 200 USD and got back 148 Euros. So you get hammered.
