So are there any coffee shops near Schipol? We are taking a trip to Russia in less than a month, and on our way back we have a 5 hour layover in Amsterdam! Oh hell yeah! We would prefer to hang next to the airport... although we will venture downtown if we must
I'm not aware of any coffee shops near the airport although I'm sure sombody will prove me wrong. You have plenty of time still to get to Amsterdam as the train from the airport to central station leave every 20 mins and the journey takes about the same time too. Head to a street called Warmoestraat, just past the Grasshopper. Here you will find a load of coffee shops within striking distance to one another. Hill Street Blues (get to the den at the back for the view) Baba Sheeba Coffee shop 36 (get to the den at the back for the view) Greenhouse Hunters Bar
The fastest way from Schipol to a coffeeshop is to take the train to Amsterdam central station. Within a 10 minute walk of central station there are close to 50 coffeeshops. I would suggest Coffeeshop 420, a couple minute walk south on Damrak to about your 4th alley on your right, take right on Oudebrugsteeg, and then 30 yards down on your left.
There are some luggage lockers at Schipol so I suggest you put your luggage in a locker get a train costs about €3.20 for a ticket as soon as you come out of Central Station head in a straight direction and slightly to the left and hit 'Central Coffeeshop' its probaly a 2 min walk from the train station get yourself something nice from there and enjoy Jon
or you can hit rasta baby and get weed and booze. thats a bit to the right when you leave centraal station
Three years ago I was forced to spend the night at the Durant hotel located in the little town near Schipol. It seems there was a severe hail storm several days before in Denver that damaged the windows of numerous planes. So United put me up in a hotel starting at 1:00 p.m. for a 24 hour lay-over. Well to make a long story short. I have been to several of the towns near the airport. And guess what? I could not find a coffee shop. I even asked two cab drivers who live there. They both told me along with several hotel employees that the closet coffee shops that sell weed are in Amsterdam..
Just take a train to Centraal Station and walk outside. You'll see a big church to your left. Just to the left of that around the corner is the Central Coffeeshop. That's the closest one I can think of.
Exactly, take the train to Central Station. I think a return ticket will cost about 5 Euro. When coming out of the station you cross a main road and turn left or right and all you are looking for is right there! If you go straight you will be in the main shopping street, so you have to turn left, or right... Have fun!
Thanks ya'll! I can hardly wait. Hehe, this is just a layover... but it is the highlight of my trip to Russia
