They like to talk about personal freedom, meanwhile trying to shove their views down our throats. What's next: should we not have to stop at red lights? Should we be free to yell "fire" in crowded spaces for the lulz?
What is it with these people? They seem to always come to their senses when reality hits them in the face.
Some never come to their senses. Republican lawmaker attends anti-vaxxer rally just days after his unvaccinated wife died of COVID-19, reports say Joshua Zitser Aug 21, 2021, 7:57 AM Republican lawmaker attends anti-vaxxer rally just days after his unvaccinated wife died of COVID-19, reports say excerpt: "A Republican lawmaker in Maine who reportedly lost his unvaccinated wife to COVID-19 attended an anti-vaxxer protest just over a week after her death, according to the Daily Beast. State Rep. Chris Johansen, who has vocally opposed coronavirus restrictions, joined GOP lawmakers at the Augusta rally to protest Democratic Gov. Janet Mills's mandate that all healthcare workers get vaccinated, Newsweek reported. At the Tuesday event, a Republican colleague reportedly compared Mills to Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who performed cruel experiments on Jewish prisoners at death camps during the Holocaust, the Daily Beast said."
Another anti-vaccination radio host died earlier in August. Rightwing radio host and anti-vaxxer dies of Covid excerpt: "A rightwing TV and radio host who was a vociferous critic of Dr Anthony Fauci and who urged his listeners not to get vaccinated against Covid-19 has died after contracting the virus. Dick Farrel, who had described Fauci as a “power-tripping, lying freak” who conspired with “power trip lib loons”, had urged people not to get vaccinated as recently as June."
How many children will have to die before they wake the fuck up? All the Southern Governors have blood on their hands.
Trump has been the ringleader of the collective anti-vaccine, anti-face covering movement during the COVID era. He whined repeatedly about face coverings. He peeled off his face mask during a PR stunt on the White House steps just after being released from the hospital and showing breathing difficulties when trying to walk up the steps by himself. Trump made Fauci an enemy at a rally and threatened to fire him after the 2020 election (although he didn't have the authority to fire him). Birx, who was initially apologetic to Trump early in the pandemic, eventually gave up on Trump and went on the road by herself to encourage the use of vaccines and masks. She squirmed as Trump made remarks about injecting disinfectants into people during a press briefing.
Trump was very quiet about his vaccination in January. Many of his staffers didn't know about it until he was no longer president. Trump seems to have mellowed slightly on vaccinations, admitting at his rally in Alabama that he was ok with vaccinating himself, a remark that caused a cold response from the audience. Vaccinations are a double-edge sword in Trump's mind. He wants to take credit for them being developed during his term and has claimed (without evidence) that they prevented 100 million deaths, thanks to him. Yet he is fearful that encouraging others to take the superb vaccinations will cause him to lose votes. DeSantis of FL and Abbott of TX, whose states are currently being ravaged by COVID, have copied Trump's playbook and seem even more anti-mask, anti-vaccine than Trump.
Those are my real thoughts; I'm not the one at risk of preeclampsia or dying in childbirth (among a plethora of potentially negative, life-changing outcomes), therefore it's none of my goddamned business. Besides, there are too many humans already. We've already exceeded Earth's sustainable carrying capacity by around 50%, and on any given day there are around 424,000 kids in foster care in America alone. Another unoriginal thought of mine: If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.
Russia would implode altogether, if they ever stopped attacking the US. The Chinese have the most to benefit right now from keeping the US and Russia busy with the usual nonsense. Wingnuts like Donald Duck just baffle the Chinese, and they are intent on controlling the distribution of goods to the third world.
I'm not seeing how this is a response to anything I said, though. I'm just saying it'd be nice to set a goal of as few abortions as possible, which would mean the elimination of unwanted pregnancies, which would stymie population growth. I don't think most people who have had abortions would even say it's a great thing. We should be Karens about safe sex a bit. I don't mean harassing women who have abortions, but just saying, "No, it actually is kind of an unfortunate thing."
Mo Brooks is having difficulty making up his mind. Similar to Lindsey Graham';s concern about staying preoccupied with the 2020 election, at Trump's rally in Alabama Brooks told Trump voters to move on (to a reception of boos) but later tweeted that the 2020 presidential election was fraught with massive fraud and theft (that damaged Trump). Trump Rally-Goers Lose Their Minds When Rep. Mo Brooks Tells Them to Move Past 2020 Election
GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger rips into Trump and Mike Pompeo for 'getting rolled' by the Taliban excerpt: ""Donald Trump was publicly saying, 'We have to get out of Afghanistan at all costs. It's not worth it.' Mike Pompeo meets with the Taliban and tries to 'negotiate' something," Kinzinger said during an appearance on CNN. "They ended up getting rolled almost as bad as Neville Chamberlain," he continued, referring to the British prime minister who negotiated the 1938 Munich Agreement, which was widely panned as enabling the Nazi invasion of Poland. "They set this up to fail," Kinzinger said. GOP Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming on Sunday also blasted Trump's deal, calling it a "surrender" to the Taliban. "We sat down and negotiated with terrorists," Cheney told NBC News. "We gave credibility to the Taliban ... We completely undercut the Afghan national government. We absolutely emboldened the Taliban.""
What's wrong with Arizona's 2020 audit? A lot, experts say excerpt: "As of July, five groups had raised nearly $5.7 million for the effort. Among those leading the fundraising groups are Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security advisor; Sidney Powell, a onetime Trump lawyer who filed a number of baseless lawsuits challenging election results; Patrick Byrne, a former chief executive of Overstock.com; and correspondents from the pro-Trump One America News Network. The money from pro-Trump groups dwarfs the $150,000 contributed by the Arizona Senate, which commissioned the audit and hired Cyber Ninjas. Funding the audit with cash from interested parties who would like to see the effort replicated in other states raises serious doubts about the validity of the findings, said Ben Ginsberg, a prominent Republican election attorney. “The audience is the funders,” Ginsberg said. “The outside funding sources is really important to concentrate on in terms of talking about the legitimacy of the audit.”"
Maricopa County officials have told the AZ senate to produce nearly $3 million to replace the voting equipment that was compromised by chain of custody issues caused by the audit. Trump and his groups aren't going to pay for it. Laws concerning election audits need to be modified to prevent damage caused by frivolous audits like the one that has been occurring in AZ for the past four months. Without it, GOP-controlled state legislatures will be able to continue with free-for-all audits that compromise equipment at taxpayer expense.
