now there's a good question. many words have been written trying to answer that question. the rainbow family of living light, is in fact living light. even if like everywhere else in this tired, troubled world there is good and bad. i could just say tap in the name and do a websearch and well, WELCOME HOME! kind sisiter!, but i will try to anwer that question a little bit from my own heart and soul. the rainbow family of living light is a dream, it is a vision of a better world. one based on cooperation and not competition. the first official gathering was in the states in the summer of 1972, but now there are gatherings all over the world almost all year round. with people camping out on the land, living in teepees, sitting round the fire, drumming, dancing, communicating, and sharing food and meals together. everyone is encouraged to bring what they can and do whatever they can to make each gathering a happening experience. The essential spirit of the rainbow can be found in the indigenous, indian tribes all over the planet. they live close to the land, many are nomadic, they share and cooperate, walking lightly on the earth. many rainbow folk are choosing lives of Voluntary Simplicity. "living simply,so that others simply may live" as mahatma gandhi said. with our fragile planet ,and all of it's six billion-plus inhabitants staring to get restless, people are beginning to look for an alternative vision to the obviously unreal, plastic mainstream version of reality. that's where the rainbow tribes start to wake up and remember that there's more to life than what is being offered by the plastic illusion of get a good education, work hard, make money and be a model citizen. ok, enough said for now. do a websearch , there's a whole new world of possibilities out there. like bob marley said, "....don't worry bout a thing, cause every little things gonna' be all right." <newworldrisingforum@yahoogroups.om> <welcomehere.org>
