after bein blink from about, what, 1992? hehe... oh well... no more annoying pop punk songs with all the same chords from them! other news, Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) is seriously ill and they have cancelled ALL their london dates and radio sessions get well soon Josh dude...
= D hahahahaha i know some people who will be broken hearted. though i'm a fan of all music great and small, i'm never too bothered when this kind of band split up busted were just stupid though in splitting up. i don't adore them at all, but losing one band member shouldn't stop the rest of them. the 70's is the best example of this - most bands would lose a member and replace every year or so... but they are great bands!
hey I like Blink..Some nice easy throw away tunes to dance to when pissed..Hell you need that sometimes.....
blink were great, i remember seeing them at reading 2000 alongside rage against the machine....very funny..just after emema of the state they well umm...bombed.
i'm actually a little bit upset about blink splitting up...i have all kinds of memories attached to their songs... i am however not sad about josh homme being ill...kicking nick out of queens of the stone age was the stupidest move in musical history...tho i'm sure things will go well for him...
busted couldn't continue as their record contract required all three of them to be in the band. well i like him... i like Nick too, and i agree that they've created the most amazing music when it was the two of them together, but I still admire Josh Homme, he's a fantastic musician and a brilliant guitarist - a real innovator.
I'm gutted about this! When I was about 11 I loved Blink! They were a part of the one of the best times in my life...Summer of 2000. They helped me get into 'alternative' music, even though the music I like now is nothing like Blink, they stole me away from the pop madness (well, most of it ). Back then, me and my friends were....well I guess you could call us 'mini moshers', but the great thing was we were different to all our peers and we realised how important it was to be ourselves that summer, and its a lesson that was important to me. Though Blink don't seem to have the deepest lyrics, back then they meant a lot to me, talking about growing up and just having fun and not being affected by what people think of you. Those songs just remind me of a great and very special time! I will miss them greatly! Viva la Blink!
I kind of thought the same kind of things back then too Rosie, but then I realised that the whole Skate 'Punk' culture was anything but alternative, and was just as much a part of the fashion conscious mainstream as manufactured pop. In fact, these days, I think a prefer manufactured pop to shitty boy bands....
TODAY March 6th 2005... marks the WORST DAY OF MY LIFE!!! The day I had first heard news that Blink 182 had split up! I cried all day and night.. and couldnt sleep because of it... I guess punk has died! Im glad it ended with the most punk rockinest band in the whole wide world blink 182. Maybe they will do a reunion tour some time omg that would be so like so awesome !!! I better buy more h0tt0pic or i wont be c00l when I go to see them on their reunion tour.
