So my friend Paul and I have been having issues sleeping ever since we were kids. I'm a pretty hardcore insomniac, but not the kind who typically stays up late. I wake up around 6:30ish at the latest, and that's on a good day, so naturally I end up wanting to sleep around 8:30, but college life and sheer willpower won't allow me to. Not to mention that I can't actually fall asleep that early no matter how hard I try.

My questions are, and this is after a lot of research and reading trip experiences on erowid, what the hell is the recreational potential of this chemical, who the hell has tried it, and what happens if you take 200mgs of this shit with two small glasses of wine? Sominex (diphenhydramine) has no acetametaphin as far as I have read on the back of the box, so I believe that takes at least one risk factor out of the equation where it seems many companies have added it in. For right now (T + 26 mins), I'm starting to experience minor disorientation, but nothing else. My stomach hurts a bit, but I'm nearly 100% sure that's from drinking this yellow tail cabernet on an empty stomach. Other than that, no real complaints, but I'm sure the chem hasn't had time to adequately disperse itself in my system. Any info/help/warnings and so on would be greatly appreciated.

    Adieu

From what I have seen, overdosing on diphenhydramine is a miserable experience.

I, too, am an insomniac. Diphenhydramine no longer produces enough drowsiness to put me asleep. I now alternate, some nights I take 2 Percogesic (APAP/phenyltoxamine), some nights I take sublingual melatonin 1mg, and some nights I take 2 Dramamine (diphenhydrinate).

Trippin on antihistamines isn't really fun at all...how did it go? I don't think 200mg is enough. I think to get really rooted outta your mind you need about 500-600mg, but don't say I didn't warn ya...I've done it about 4x, and never again.

well, 200 mgs wasn't so bad. It wasn't something that I would really wanna do all the time, but man, if you're tired and really really bored, then i would say go for it. I don't think that higher doses would really produce a desirable effect, but 200 mgs was about all it took to kinda of feel sedated and at peace with the world. It was almost like having some kinda pain killer or muscle relaxant instead of getting totally shitty and freakin out. It was just different... that's about it.

Well you only got sedated and at peace with the world because you didn't take a tripping dosage. Not that you should do it, but if you took like 500-600mg the experience would be ENTIRELY different. You would be seeing objects/people/bugs/animals that aren't there. And I mean SEEING, and not knowing that it's not real for the most part. It's a complete state of delerium and not very fun, but worth trying once I guess...
