Neither will be slimy if you fry them in a skillet with a little oil until browned for the mushrooms and somewhat blackened for the okra.
Some 'mushy' foods can be quite good, f'r instance steamed sweet potato, placed in bowl with a large knob of butter and mashed down to a pulp - served with bangers and gravy - delicious !!!
Have no problem with mashed potatoes, and can eat uncooked or lightly steamed carrots, broccoli, asparagus, and cauliflower all day, but not when they are cooked down to predigested mush. The worst is when they boil eggplant or squash until they turn into a snotty gelatinous mass. That is truly gag inducing.
What I've noticed is I gravitate away from onions & garlic. (Can you even gravitate away from something? I don't think so... but there! I said it.) I don't like the taste hours after in my mouth, though I love the smell and flavor. I avoid scrubbing my tongue with a brush... but this is a fairly new reservation. And only recently have I decided to not include the roasted garlic cloves in my salad; though for years I've said "everything but onions" when ordering a sandwich at a sandwich shop. *Incidentally, my lunches include meat lately... * Maybe I should look into my priorities, but being vegetarian on your lunch hour is somehow harder... Anyway... No onions, and definitely no garlic! & of course breath mints aplenty...
This is how I feel about unripe bell peppers, the only difference is that I don't mind the lingering taste of onions and garlic.
Oh matey, you haven't lived !!! Corned beef sarnie with slices of raw onion is fabulous, so too is a cheese and onion sarnie. No decent casserole or stew is possible without onion and/or garlic
the only casserole i generally do is like a chicken pot pie---- have to make the large family size......
Quoted for truth... If it ain't movin' Vlad will eat it... and I worry about slow moving objects too.
I don't know... if it's prepared and served, that's the exception. When I'm the cook, or ordering I choose fresh breath.
One thing that should never be served anytime anywhere is liver. My mom would make it on occasion. I didn't care. I'll sit here til the cows come home. I was not gonna eat that shit.
If you think you're having stomach troubles............ This snake burrowed it way out of a heron after being eaten.-(yes, snakes on the crane)
Not entirely true matey, there used to be a butcher just down the road from me, who sourced safari meats - Crocodile, Gazelle, Impala, Kangaroo, Kudu, Ostrich, Wildebeeste, & Zebra - I've eaten and enjoyed them all !!!
