i was just wondering if its safe and if girls who use it have any side effects, if yes what side effects are there? also, is it true that your cycle will be more organized if you use pill? what about weight gain?
I know that weight gain is an issue with depo, I'm not sure about the pill. When I was on the pill, I became extremely prone to yeast infections. So that is a sideaffect to consider. Around here, it's about $20 to treat it, each time. It is supposed to even out your period. However, if it isn't the right dosage for your body, it may make your periods even more wonky - that's something only a doctor can figure out. My biggest issue with the pill was remembering to take it on time, every day. That's why I would suggest that you consider the patch - only have to change it once a week. Again, it comes with it's own set of sideaffects (of which I am not aware, since my bc is the injection - which is NOT adviseable for every woman!), but at least the forgetting one isn't such a big, looming beast of a worry.
I am on the Ortho Evra Patch and I haven't had any side effects whatsoever. I feel no differently and my period is no different either. I actually started taking it in order to fix my insanely hideous periods. And it didn't do much except for eliminate the blood clot things. But I keep taking it now for the sex Anyway, it probably depends on the girl, but I've had no ill effects from the patch and it's extremely convenient to only have to change it once a week and not worry about pills.
well, I guess its safe. It uses hormones. There are side effects with birth control. The side effects are different with the different kinds. The most weight gain happens with the shot. I think the pill is second. a girls periods will be different with birth control. I'm not sure what happens though cuz i dont use birth control. with some, you dont get a period at all. with some, you do. some make it so that you only get it like 4 times a year or something like that. The patch has the least amount of side effects but its kinda hard to keep it on sometimes.(i know cuz my friend uses it.) If you wanted longer term birth control, there is this thing that you can get. Its like a clamp that goes on your fallopian tubes and it you can leave it in for like 8 years.
This is just me, but I've never had any problem keeping the patch on. Also, with the patch, you can go for months without having a period if you leave a patch on at all times. At least that's what my doctor told me, I haven't actually done it yet.
with the pill, you should always be getting regular periods. Only depo and seasonal should be messing around with your rhythms (other than stabilizing them) There's also the IUD to consider. They're a lot safer now than they used to be. However, you should have a really really good gyno implant it and deal with it, since bad docs can lead to serious problems with it (far more serious than the pill) remember, none of these protect against STI's. Condoms (male or female) should be used with any new partner. Female condoms are neat because they can also protect against warts and herpes that are on the surface, since they cover a fair bit of the vulva, unlike male condoms.
i take the pill- nordette. i had to switch from orthotricyclen because it didnt suit me, but other than that, i love it. my period starts every month on a tuesday and lasts til saturday. i havent gained/lost any weight. the only problem occurred the very first week i went on it, and for that week i was one moody little bitch. but other than that, the pill has got my vote.
i take yasmin. i only had positive side effects: -- it makes my periods lighter and shorter -- i lost weight -- my boobs got a bit bigger i've always been really moody, so i'm not sure if the pill really effected my moods. i hear those are common among people on yasmin. symptoms depend on the individual, as well as the specific type of pill. low vs. high dose, different hormone combos, etc all make a difference. depending on your insurance, it'll probably be about $8/month at the pharmacy. without insurance, it's about $40/month.
Seriously! I just woke up one morning and my boyfriend said that they seemed to have grown. I agreed that they felt fuller. I don't wear bras so I couldnt really gague it.. but a couple days later I put on one of my favorite shirts and it was so tight around the boobs that it was uncomfortable. What an awesome side effect.
This is kinda obvious, but I'll say it anyway: The pill does't protect against stds. So unless both people are clean (and neither person is going to catch an std from anyone else while they're 'together') than going without condoms isn't really a side effect. Condoms won't protect anyone from every std, but it's better than nothing. I do agree though, that sex without condoms is amazing, and the pill offers more pregnancy protection than a condom. And if both people are disease-free and won't be catching anything from anyone else, then yeah, condomless sex can definitely be a good side effect.
