Hunter S. Thompson killed himself yesterday (February 20, 2005). For those of you who were not familiar with him, he was a writer - the originator of the "gonzo" writing style.

He was also a famous drug user and has had a few movies based on his books including Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Where the Buffalo Roam. There is also talk of them adapting his Rum Diary into a film soon.

RIP Hunter S. Thompson... anything worth doing, is worth doing right. The world will miss you.

it's definately the funniest book I've ever read. the fisrt one that made me howl with laughter for days. I actually can't read the chapter of him on aHUMAN ADRENAL GLAND without tears of hilarity and throwing the book around telling everyone in the room how FUNNY THIS BOOK IS! '
but the chapter on rape hmmmm . is soo disturbed. i wish drugs didn't have side effects hey? he's not so cool with a self inflicted hole in the head.

I was reading aloud from "Kingdom of Fear" to friends when he died.
As a journalist, he has been a personal hero of mine.
