i gain all my weight in my belly, just like i did when i was pregnant. my waist size is HUGE because of that. i gain all my weight in my boobs and belly so i was wondering, is there anyone else like that out there? and what do you wear? i mean, i cant wear jeans unless they are low waist (like at the hip) cuz if they actually FIT my waist, then the rest is HUGE, do you know what i mean? my "uniform" is leggings and a big tshirt. which is comfy and fine, but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. i was thinking of some of the patchwork skirts that are out there, with elastic waists, and wear em up high. how confusable. any suggestions? anyone else shaped like me?? loopie
My stomach is way fatter then the rest of my body too. I went to the doctor last week though and they told me I had ibs with contsipation and gave me a few days worth of medicine for it and it helped a lot so far. You may want to check it out with your doctor because it's unc ommon for women to gain weight int heir stomach and it might be a medical thing and not that your fat (not that you are).
hmm, thanks, i'll mention that the next time i go. tho i have heard that weight gained by stress eating can settle at your waist. which is what i do...stress eat . and i also gained all my weight there with my pregnancies so it could just be the place my fat settles - lol
they told me that it wasn't even fat that it was just constant bloating. i'm still flabby there and always will be because well i just don't care that much anymore but i finally feel perportionate. My grandma gained some in her stomach and i guess she has the same thing as me she thought it was because of child birth too.
I only gain weight in my middle too...I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with me, But who the hell knows? I never went to the doctor and asked about it. Anyway, I'm losing baby fat right now too, and I know how hard it is! Here's my advice: First, forget about ladies pants. Even when you are as skinny as you can be they will never fit us right!! Second, get wide leg styles....It helps you to look more proportioned. Pajama pants are good, you just have to find styles you'd be comfortable wearing in public..but they have lots of cool styles now...As for shirts, right now I am pretty much wearing regular big t-shirts. Things like a small shirt with an open button up shirt over top are good too, it hides the middle. I also like big chunky shoes. I've found that I feel better when I wear big things, big shoes and wide legs and such, everywhere but my middle..it seems to help the proportion issues we have
i have a big belly too; i never gained weight there until i had kids, before them it was always the hips and thighs i was conserned about. I started running about a month and a half ago, and it helped a little bit, but i'm still shaped the same. I too wear low-waist jeans, and otherwise go with elastic or drawstrings. With shirts, i just buy a size bigger than i could comfortably fit into, so it kind of flows away from my body, instead of clinging to it in the wrong places. I'm somewhere between an XL and a 1X , but plus-sized clothes are cut so much better, imo. If it's a cool day, sometimes i wear a loose shirt with a tight-fitting tank top underneath. That can actually be surprisingly cute, if the shirt is just a little sheer, or it has buttons and you can leave some open.
I gain my weight in my ass and legs, but I think people with tummies look very cute in boatneck shirts. (They usually have really sexy shoulders for some reason.)
one kind of shirt that works for me (im shaped JUST like you, but i havent had kids.. lol) are shirts with scoop necks.. they look really nice, and show enough flesh to make you feel nice and cute.. try it!! with pants.. i do the "below the waist" stuff, and make sure they are tighter in the butt, and looser in the legs... it seems to make my body seem thinner.
I disagree with what most of you are saying very low rise pants look most flattering when you're thick through the middle and assuming the rest of your figure is good then tighter pants and long but fitted shirts or sweaters look very good and heels will make anyone look twenty pounds thinner. Whoever said flared pants is right on and juniors clothing fits cery well because it's cut small in the hips and larger in the waist.
How bout dresses. An empire line dress could look really cute, and would draw more attention to the bust and detract away from the belly, you could wear them in whatever length you like, and because the "waist" is just below the bust, it would be floaty and free where you want it to be. You could wear kaftans theyre always cute paired with some flares! I'm undecided about the low rise pants, lots of chicks wear them and wear a shorty top, and it makes even many of the slimmer look like melting icecreams cos their belly hangs over the top.
oh you all are great! thanks so much for your suggestions. i've been thinking about dresses Retro...right now i NEVER wear them, but only cuz i wasnt going for something nice and soft and flattering. i have a phobia from when i was younger and mom made me wear nylons *barf*. those things send chills up my spine. but anyway...the sugg for the tops are great too. i see other ppl shaped like me and they look so good or they are wearing jeans and dont look like they are being sqeezed to death and i'm thinking "lemme get a picture of you so i can remember what you are wearing!!!" lol. oh and there's some great hippie stuff out there, but some of the shirts i'm afraid i'd DEFINITELY look like i was toting a baby . loop
"I'm undecided about the low rise pants, lots of chicks wear them and wear a shorty top, and it makes even many of the slimmer look like melting icecreams cos their belly hangs over the top." *sigh* this is because a lot of girls try to squeeze into a size that doesn't fit them. If you buy pants that fit, your belly won't hang out, even if you're fat for cripes sake! people always guess that I'm about 10 or 20 pounds less than I am! Just because they don't see flab hanging out...because I accept my size and buy clothes that fit me! I'm telling you there's an epidemic...just about all trendy girl clothes are not made for the average girl! Just about all girl's clothes are tight as hell too! Grr it really makes me mad! Please, please, just forget about girl pants!!! The low rise girl pants look bad on most of the people I've seen wear them! I just bought some bugle boy pants at walmart, they have pockets on the side that actually make me look as though I have hips, plus they are wide leg style. They are guys pants with a waist of 38, which rests at the top of my hips. first time I wore them my coworkers (we have a sklightly casual work dress code, we don't deal with customers face to face) raved about how good my figure was looking LOL!
Say it after me; "tunic tops are my friend." My waist is about 5 inches bigger than my hips, so I know how hard it is to find clothing that fits. I wear alot of peasant blouses, tunic tops, kurtas and cardigans. I sew most of my pants and skirts so they will actually fit me properly. I love men's levis for jeans. What do you guys wear for bathing suits? I have one that looks like a tennis dress, sporty and sexy; I also have a pair of bikini shorts made out of cordouroy and a swim tank top to go with them. It's hard to find something that is comfy and sexy for the beach. Sarongs come in handy.
I completley disagree I am chubby and contemporary designer and juniors clothing fits me best. A lot of people say that it's made for super skinny women and I don't get it I'm a 10/12 and I don't have a hard time fitting into them at all. I completley agree with girls who wear their clothes too tight i think that's so tacky and unflattering.
*giggles* the low-rise controversy, lol. I wear em cause they're comfy, but i don't fool myself into thinking that they look good. For heaven's sake, if they don't look good, wear a shirt long enough to cover what needs to be Personally, i'd steer clear of empire waists, unless you're thin, because you will look pregnant--and it doesn't take a particularly round belly to look that way in those, because that's the way maternity clothes are usually cut, so people automatically think that way.

Well, I wasn't saying you have to buy specific kinds of clothes, in fact, everybody should decide for themsleves (as in, go try on the clothes! as women we have to do it before buying things anyway don't we?) and not worry about what everyone else says you "should" wear! I just think a lot of girls are so obsessed with wearing a "six" or something(thanks to hollywood), that they buy it and get into it, even though they honestly are a 10 or something. As long as you buy stuff that fits and you gut doesn't hang out while you'r standing up (everybody's gut hangs over a littel when they sit down) then I definitely wasn't meaning you, whether you wear womens or juniors or baby/toddler clothing lol (joking about the baby clothes!) And what a lot of people don't realize is you look a hell of a lot better if you don't wear clothes that are too tight. Just listen to all these other people talking about how skinny girls wear real tight pants and look bad because the pants are too tight!
