Ok, so it's my wife having them (she's 26). I'm not really freakin' out. Just thought I'd see if any of you have some names to suggest. We have a 4 yr old daughter named, Delaney. We won't know the sexes until mid march.
Congrats Your post made me smile as trust me you are still going to feel as if you had them.....lol Best wishes to you and your wife and your little Delaney on the news of your coming twins.
Thanks, Heat I know I'm in for it, but still look foward to having them. Never dreamed I'd be a family man.
That is what makes life so interesting....all these great suprises that some demented power that is has in line for us. You are going to have such a great time with these twin bundles of joy. Now you can feel free to tell your wife my advise.....see at our age we are suppose to need less sleep.....so tell her I said you have to get up all the nights with those babies....she is younger and needs her sleep.....lol I was once an exhausted mommy. Evil maybe now though. Blessings to all of you
Oh no no no. I was the one who got no sleep with our daughter, Delaney, plus spending 50-60 hours at work starting a business the same time. (my wife was in school at the time- NO not high school, ha ). These two are gonna be momma's babies. I'm still the one that has to get up for Delaney's middle of the night nightmares, tummy aches and whatever. Ok, I'll help out with the feedings, but the late night bonding is all hers.
Sounds like a good plan and a happy home. Think all three of your children will be blessed with love and a Mommy and Daddy who will make sure they are all just fine. Those happy kids will then make Mommy and Daddy feel just fine also......works out well!
Fantastic news to you and your family! And I love the name Delaney. It would be great for the twins to have Irish names too and there are tons of groovy ones! How about any of these? Boys: Caden, Dylan, Finley, Flynn, Logan, Malachy, Nevan, Owen, Riley Girls: Allsun, Aoife (ee-fa), Caitlin, Enya, Erin, Nuala, Shannon, Teagan Have fun and love & peace to your wife x
Congratulations on the twins. You can do it. I'm 54 and have a 2 year old at home. It does help having a young partner though. I like Caden and Caitlyn. Kathi
Congratulations My fave sites to find names are... alternativebabynames.com babynames.com behindthename.com cool-baby-names.com namenerds.com/uucn Hope those help, good luck
Twins! A double blessing! I'm a big fan of waiting to meet the baby/ies before choosing names. It's great fun to go over the names and pick the ones you like, but it's nice to meet the baby first and then figure out a name that fits.
Thanks ladies. I like some of those name suggestions. We are keeping a list. We also agree about not actually naming them till you meet them. Our daughter Delaney, was close to being named Chandler until we meet her. That's a cool picture Brighid. I'm moving my store this summer and will have an art gallery upstairs. Can you tell me anything about that piture, like the artists name?
Well congrats to you. Twins are awesome, and don't let anyone scare you with BS stories. Everyone tried to freak my hubby and I out when we were expecting. It was always those who DIDN'T have twins that seemed to like to do it the most. Like, hello, how would they know? Oh, they always knew of someone, or knew of a friend of a friend, blah, blah, blah. Don't listen. It's fantastic. My twins are 22 months old, and they are fraternal, a boy and a girl. We also have an older son, who is 5 years old. Just a word of advice, be prepared for your 4 year old to have some major adjusting to do when the babies come home. Our son had a really difficult time with it in the beginning. It was pretty tough. Now, he loves it because he got not one, but two playmates out of the deal. Now if only I could stop them from tormenting each other so much, but they seem to find great satisfaction in doing so. Names, well, I can't help you there, that's something you'll have to do a lot of searching for. My twins are named Sylas and Mayzie, and my oldest son is Kylan. Peace.
Thanks Hippychickmommy, I'm kinda hoping for a boy and a girl too. Yes, I know my daughter is gonna have a hard time dealing with sharing attention, but she has been getting practice with my younger brothers new granddaughter. She loves helping with diapers and feeding. At home she's been practicing being a "good big sister". If we have two boys, she will be very upset. I like your kids names.
Having your little girl practice feeding and diapering is an EXCELLENT idea. I ended up doing something like that with my oldest son, who was 3.5 years old at the time I gave birth to my twins. I gave him two bears, one pink one, and one blue one (I had actually gotten them as gifts at my baby shower) and he would watch what I was doing with his brother and sister, and do the same with his bears. He named them after his brother and sister too. It helped a LOT. I also made sure to include him in the care of his new siblings, which, he really liked. Thanks for the compliments on the names. It was tough deciding on all of them! Are you going to find out what you're having beforehand, or wait? I found out with all of my babies, and with the twins, I kind of figured it out before they even told me due to having so many ultrasounds. I had a lot of opportunity to sneak a peak. I really admire those who can wait to find out though! I wish I could have been like that, but I've always been one of those people who shake my gifts and figure out what's inside of them and end up ruining the surprise. Peace.
We will hopefully find out on march 17. I want to know and my wife is like you, she can't even keep her christmas gifts to other people secret. My wife, Emily (in my gallery, that's her in the Prince outfit taken last year) is a little women and is flat on her back now with the twins. She has no energy, they're growing so fast. And so is Emily. Her boobs have gone from a full C to DD in no time. And her belly is so big for this early. The rest of her is still small so I can't imagine her at 36 weeks. Delaney and I try to help the best we can. It can be a bit scary and I have no time for myself with her on her back but, we are enjoying the process. The experience, like before, draws us closer together. Our friends don't care for it much but we spend most of our time home alone. Normally we're both very social creatures, but now we're just bears in winter, and loving it. The babies are already moving around. My daughter Delaney, calls them Thing One and Thing Two (from "Cat In The Hat"). I'm looking foward to the whole family of 5 experience. Which is so funny to my old friends. Up until my early 40's total freedom and avoiding responsiblitiy were my only goals in life. Now I own a successful furniture store and I'm a family man. Even though, I've always been this care free rambling hippy soul, since I first got Emily pregnant nearly 5 years ago, I keep forcing myself to take on more and more responsibilities. Getting married, starting a business, buying a house, and today I just signed a 5 yr lease on a hugh 2 story building to move my store this July. Inside the commitment ($8000. mo) scares the hell out of me. But every few nights or so, after everyone's in bed, I'll smoke a fat bowl, put on my headphones and listen to my "hippy music" as Emily calls it, and escape into a moment of freedom. All the past Dead shows and travels are a great place to visit in my head now and then. Even still, I wouldn't trade what I have now for the past. Man I sure can go on sometimes.
When I was expecting my twins, my OB would tease me and say how he hoped for my sake that I wouldn't go a full 40 weeks, because I'm pretty small too and those babies had nowhere to go but straight out! Those little puppies were up in my ribs and I could barely walk as I got further along. It was pretty uncomfortable. It definitely didn't help that I insisted on wearing platforms on top of it. Stupid, stupid. *lol* Night time was the worst time though. I had to grab a hold of the headboard to turn myself in bed and I was just miserable! I ended up having my twins at 36 weeks, 3 days gestation, which was pretty good. That was my goal. To get to at least 36 weeks. They both weighed just about 5 pounds each, which was considered pretty good. I was disappointed though, I had been hoping for 6 or 7 pounders. Luckily, I wasn't on bed rest. I was afraid I would be, since I had heard of so many women carrying multiples being on bed rest. I didn't have any complications until the very end, and they were pretty severe, but extremely rare. I developed H.E.L.L.P. syndrome which there is only a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of getting. Of course, I had to be the lucky one. *sighs* Hearing the tales of your pregnancy makes me wistful. I remember all of that like it was just the other day, and now my twins are going on 2 years old. Time flies by so fast! Do you guys ever play music for the babies? I used to put headphones on my belly and let them listen to things like the Beatles (White Album), Zepplin (boy, some of those songs got them really kicking!), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Moody Blues. It's funny, because all three of my kids love that music to this day. Music is a big part of all of our lives. I couldn't survive without it. It's a great escape, just as you said. My hubby used to play bass in a band, and sometimes he'll get his out and play for the kids. They just love it. That's awesome about your new building. Good luck with that! And hey, I'm always rambling, if you hadn't noticed already. I talk my poor husband's ear off on a daily basis. If I'm not chirping, he knows something's not right. Now our daughter is talking a mile a minute too. *lol*
LOL- My wife's shootin' for 36 weeks too. And yes, we did play music for Delaney and we were just saying we need to start with the twins. Delaney, moved around alot to music and she still loves all kinds of music. She sings and dances and plays the drums. My wife just bought me a guitar and I hope to learn with the kids as they grow. It's a good plan because I can start with the simple kiddie songs and progress as they grow. We put headphones on Emily's stomach and mostly played smooth jazz, old motown and classical but also modern alternaltive (Emily's) and sometimes some of my 60's & 70's stuff, and the Dead or recent jam bands like Widespread Panic which I love. On the mellow side, Dead Can Dance or Mazzy Star I thought was good. But who knows what they like in there. By the way, my wife and daughter rarely stop talking. So, I'm hoping at least one of these babies is a boy. The strong silent type. lol
