Mine is Metal/Shred......So whats yours? here are my favortie shredders and guitar players.... Joe Satriani Steve Vai Zakk Wylde Randy Rhodes Kirk Hammett
Depends... I like Jazz/Blues, Acoustic Folk stuff... I don't really play metal stuff much but I can if it was a life or death situation, though I don't really care for satriani, really... vai is okay, but my favorite guitarist in that style has to be Eric Johnson. I love him. He puts a lot of soul into it. Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, BB King, Robert Johnson, Neil Young, Hendrix, SRV, Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills, Jimmie Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Scott Henderson, Albert King, ...
http://rudedude1210.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/ericjohnson.mp3 I like desert rose better, though.... his signature strat Fender is releasing is awesome...
VAI..is okay???...at age 19 he joined Frank Zappa's band after proving that he knew most of the repertoire and could transcribe orchestral pieces by ear. Zappa credited him on albums as the "stunt guitarist." Vai was also taught by Joe Satriani....man to say he is okay is like saying SRV is an okay bluez player or that BB King's tone is decent..... Vai jamming with Frank Zappa....notice the nice Les Paul Custom
My style is sort of a mix between jimi hendrix, david gilmoure, and isaac brock(modest mouse). Jazz/blues/indie rock/psychedelic/folk stuff mostly.
everything is inspirational to me i love fingerstyle, with jazz chords, with funk rhythms... i like too many styles, so i tend to write music depending on what i think it should be right now i'm listening to some good old hendrix ^_^
vai was also credited by zappa as "impossible guitar." besides the fact he learned from Satriani through high school and practices i think its about 7 hrs a day. i think he was just so extremely serious about makin it as a guitarist, but he probly would of done fine musically if he had not gone to college, so i wouldnt hold it against him. anyway i really like how zappa plays very outside. i tend to play whatever im in the mood for.
Oh goddddddddddd yes... I love fingerstyle...CHET ATKINS, Tommy Emmanuel, Merle Travis, Leo Kottke, Doyle Dykes, Adrian Legg,, Jerry Reed... I cannot get enough... I need to buy a freakin' Taylor for that kinda stuff... haha. I know Stephen Bennett. He lives by the guitar shop I go to all the time. He's the best harp guitarist there is. I know... Vai is really great and I've seen all the things he can do on TV and at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, I've been to a G3, and I'm going to see him at the birchmere in Alexandria this year... Eric Johnson still continues to impress me most out of anyone in the G3 tours.
My favorite things to play are Beatles songs, don't really know of a style... The music I write is very Pet Sound and Sgt Pepper inspired, but I've also written a country song and am working on another... I don't do much soloing or fingerpicking tho, I'm just working on rhythm and writing.
I gotta go with the Metal, it's my true calling, Only Guitar style (Well, in addition to Rock/Jazz, which are played nearly in the same style.) that seems ermmm... fluid and emotional to me, other just seem to exact and sterile.
I really like that Chicago Blues style a lot.. Buddy Guy, Peter Green, Mike Bloomfield.. The list goes on. That clean, biting tone and fluid playing gets me every time.
alright, the best guitarist ever knwn is Jimmy Page. He is awesome, and plays like a god. i like playing beatles on my guitar though.
I think Jimmy Page's playing is great, but I like his guitar tone more than his playing. Can't go wrong with a '59 Les Paul and PAFs but it'll cost $250k
I like a little of everything, but if I had to choose a favorite; it'd just be the simple rock anthem style. The Beatles, The Who, Bowie… it’s those rhythms that get me, the songwriting behind it; but I’m probably one of the few that doesn’t really care for solo’s. Guess I’ve just grown out of them, but they really bore me now, especially the typical jam band stuff. So I guess I look up to the guitarists that are great songwriters the most.
