I had a bad day today, could really use a pick me up... To anyone that cares...i was basically labeled a "shoe in" to be a leader on this really big retreat at my school...it's like a HUGE deal where i am...i had all the qualities for it outgoing, well known, liked, depth, intelligence, spunk, and most importantly a really really good story (like ive had a messed up past) and i just found out im not a leader, and i feel like shit. i feel like there's some reason that im just like defective and people do not like me and i never get a break...id been looking forward to this since august. and ive been crying for like two hours im done now, thanks.
Well stop crying because some really good things will happen and this crummy thing will pass. It feels kind of crappy now but I was looking on the internet and found a bunch of different places that you can get grant money to travel. I found a site that does missions trips all over the world. (I don't know if this is grant founded but I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost you much especially if you are still in school.) Just try one of these places and I'll just bet you'll have lots of fun while you help people.http://www.shorttermmissions.com/search/?source=adwords
"outgoing, well known, liked, depth, intelligence, spunk, and most importantly a really really good story..." I'm sorry your school didn't choose you to lead the retreat. These all sound like really good qualities. Although you won't be going on the retreat, you still have a great character to share with other people. All you need to do is search for an opportunity and seize it. Bellfire has some good suggestions. You could also do something local. Find a service outlet and make people happy (it will make you happy too). I find that visiting with lonely people (ie. elderly, orphans, handicapped) can be one of the most fulfilling things. All they need is someone to talk to and I bet you would be a great person to keep them company. I hope things turn up for you and that pretty smile in your signature finds its way back. Take care and have a nice weekend.
